With another action-packed week of NFL football in the books, we begin the page-turning process as we do each week here at FlurrySports with our Week 10 NFL Power Rankings. A number of important games played out this past weekend. The Ravens picked up a key win over the Colts in a battle of AFC contenders. The Bills aired it out on the Seahawks to score their most impressive win to date. And the Dolphins, led by rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, stayed hot with a huge road win over the Cardinals.
If the previous few weeks have taught us anything, it’s that anyone can beat anyone on any given Sunday. Underdogs have been keeping games close and winning several outright as well. From the top of the league down to the bottom, the gap is often not as large as many would like to believe. In an effort to bring more numerical systems into the discussion, the Week 10 NFL power rankings include several other ratings and projections from qualified systems. These numbers are interesting to compare as to how each system sees the teams currently and to project how successful each team will be for the remainder of the season.
Week 10 NFL Power Rankings Stats Defined
Before displaying the various ratings and projections with each team in the Week 10 Power Rankings, refer to the sections below for a description of each system. This will help to give a better picture of what each rating system is designed to do and enhance the compare and contrast process between each assigned rating for a given team.
VSiN Power Rating
Updated after the conclusion of every game, the Vegas Sports Information Network’s (VSiN) Power Ratings reflect each team’s overall strength rating, home, and road points, and include adjustments for injuries or specific situations.
VSiN Effective Strength
The Effective Strength rating quantifies each team’s strength and pace of play. They are heavily influenced by a team’s schedule and strength of opponents played.
ESPN Football Power Index
The Football Power Index or FPI is a predictive rating system developed by ESPN. It measures team strength and uses these ratings to project future game and season results.
