The Minnesota Vikings have had a preseason full of injuries, unfortunately. So, most fans will not be surprised to know that the final Week 2 Vikings injury report does rule out a starting wide receiver. However, it was to be expected.
Jordan Addison has not had a great start to his second NFL season. Legal troubles parlayed into injuries have meant his headlines have been about everything but his play on the field. And for the Minnesota Vikings’ Week 2 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, it will be more of the same for the kid who played his college ball at USC.
We have the final Minnesota Vikings injury report which came out on Friday afternoon. The practice participation and game status are as follows:
The Jordan Addison injury occurred during the Week 1 victory. He ended up leaving the game following three receptions for 35 yards, then he never returned. Given the preseason injury, it is not surprising to see Addison sidelined for this tough matchup against San Francisco.
In his absence, the Vikings should play Jalen Nailor. However, we have also seen the Vikings trust Brandon Powell, so expect him to be involved as well. With Minnesota being viewed as the clear underdogs in this game, we could see a lot of second-half passing from Sam Darnold. With him out two of his top three receivers, Jordan Addison and TJ Hockenson, it could be a tough Sunday against his former team.
The new concern is the Harrison Smith injury. Smith was not spotted during the open portion of practice, making him questionable to play on Sunday.
