With the NBA Finals officially over, next on the schedule will be the 2021 NBA Draft. The Utah Jazz are coming off of a great year in which they finished first in the Western Conference, and had a record of 52-20. However, this offseason if the Jazz want to replicate 2020, they need to make some important decisions this summer.

The following is a complete look at the Utah Jazz needs, as we approach the 2021 NBA Draft and Free Agency.

Utah Jazz Needs Heading Into The Offseason

Utah Jazz Free Agents

  • Mike Conley, PG
  • Georges Niang, SF
  • Ersan Ilyasova, PF
  • Juwan Morgan, SF
  • Jarrell Brantley, PF
  • Trent Forrest, SG

As you can see above, the Jazz just have too many wing-players to hold on to all of them. It is priority one to re-sign Mike Conley. He played a vital role for them during the playoffs, and is an integral part of the roster. I would also expect them to try to retain Georges Niang and Ersan Ilyasova. Both are highly effective shooters who play an important role for Utah. As for Morgan, Brantley, and Forrest, unless they return on a one-year deal, that is rather cheap, they will all be let go.

Utah Jazz 2021 Draft Picks

  • First Round, 30th Overall

Ayo Dosunmu, PG

Ayo Dosunmu would be a great pick for the Jazz. Not only does he provide insurance for Ja Morant, but he’s also a great defender. His offensive game needs some work, but he would be great on defense immediately. He’s also an above average shooter, that defends well off the ball and on it. Overall the 6’5″ guard would be able to help the Jazz as early as next year, and that’s a huge advantage for a team that made the playoffs last year.

Quentin Grimes, SG/PG

Quentin Grimes is one of the more experienced players in the draft. He played at Kansas before transferring to Houston. On offense, he’s a lightning rod that is an instant scoring threat. He is an older prospect, but that shouldn’t matter to the Jazz, who have a lot of veteran players. On defense, he would be able to lock down any opposing guard, and provide an offensive spark off the bench.

Joshua Primo, PG

Joshua Primo is another player that provides insurance for Morant. However, he played at Alabama last year, who had a very successful year in the SEC. He’s also one of the youngest players in the draft, at 18. On top of that, being such a young age, provides him ample time to grow as a player. Overall Primo is a great tool to have because he’s a primary ball-handler that is 6’6″. Selecting him so late in the first round would be idel for Utah going forward.
