Underdog Fantasy NFL DFS Picks: Texans vs Steelers NFL Playoffs
Aaron Rodgers HIGHER 21.5 Completions
On paper, given how these two teams have looked as of late, it seems like the Texans are going to steamroll the Steelers in this game. However, there’s one factor for the Steelers to keep this game close — Aaron Rodgers. In what could be his last ride, Rodgers will be at his best when it comes to a tough matchup. While the passing defense from the Texans has been the most talked-about part of the team, the rushing defense has been incredible as well, giving up just 93.7 yards per game. With Pittsburgh struggling to run the ball in this game, Rodgers is going to have to pass the ball to win this game.
Down the stretch, the Steelers have been more inclined to use Rodgers’ arm to move the ball. Rodgers has completed more than 21.5 passes in four of Pittsburgh’s last five games. It has always been the case; Rodgers’ quick decision-making, partnered with his lightning-fast release, will be the key for the Steelers in this game. We know that Rodgers is not afraid to throw to his running backs, and with Houston’s strong pass, he is going to have to take the easy throws for Pittsburgh to win this game.
Jaylen Warren HIGHER 1.5 Receptions
I am going to parlay my Aaron Rodgers Underdog Fantasy NFL DFS picks with Jaylen Warren’s. When we look at the Steelers’ running back room, it seems likely that Kenneth Gainwell will be the stronger of the two in the pass game, but that does not exclude Warren from being a part. As the Steelers have moved the ball this season, Warren has been somewhat involved in the pass game. Warren has gone higher than 1.5 receptions in 14 games this season, including going for five receptions in last week’s must-win game against the Baltimore Ravens.
With the Texans’ strong pass rush, as well as Pittsburgh’s willingness to throw the ball, Warren is going to be involved in the pass game. Seeing that Warren has gone higher than 1.5 receptions in 14 games this season, it is a lock that he is going to do it once again in this game as Pittsburgh has to win to keep their season alive. Houston has shown a penchant for playing a cover 3 defense, which will open up check-downs and underneath routes for Rodgers to work his way down the field with.
Dalton Schultz HIGHER 4.5 Receptions
The Houston Texans’ offense has performed much better down the stretch and that has come by way of C.J. Stroud spreading the ball around to all of his weapons. Along with Nico Collins and Jayden Higgins, Dalton Schultz has been involved in the pass game as well. In Houston’s last four games, Schultz has totaled 20 receptions, averaging out to five per game. It has become clear that when Houston is looking for a go-to target, Schultz has been the guy to make a play.
The good news for Stroud and Schultz is that the Steelers have struggled against opposing tight ends this season. They are ranked 29th in the NFL this season in receptions given up to tight ends at 106. They have given up a total of 1,121 yards to tight ends, so it is obvious that attacking the Steelers’ defense by way of the tight end position is a key to moving the ball in this game. That leads to Schultz playing a featured role in this game. Given his athleticism and ability to get open, Schultz is going to be used heavily on Monday.
