What is Underdog Fantasy?

Underdog Fantasy might be most known for their live DFS drafts, but they also offer pick’em contests. In essence, making MLB DFS picks on Underdog combines daily fantasy sports and player props into one. Available to those in non-sports betting states, a wide variety of player props exist spanning across today’s four-game MLB Playoffs slate. The more props a user combines together, the greater their potential payout.

Unlike some other platforms in the market, Underdog Fantasy also allows users the flexibility to pick and choose which props they combine together. You can even combine DFS picks from multiple sports and games! When making Underdog Fantasy MLB picks, the only limitations are truly the user’s own imagination and creativity.

Underdog Fantasy Pick’em Payout

For the pick’em game format, users string player props together to form a parlay. If one pick is wrong, the entire fantasy football parlay fails. However, cashing can give a very nice payout, with more picks meaning a higher multiplier.

Best Underdog Fantasy DFS Picks for MLB Postseason Games | Friday, 10/8

Much like betting odds move and update throughout the day and week, props at Underdog Fantasy also move. In other words, if there is a prop you like, make sure you place it quickly.

Dansby Swanson (ATL) Over 0.5 Total Bases

For as dominant a season as Milwaukee Brewers‘ pitcher, Corbin Burnes had in 2021, one player who has given him fits in the past is Atlanta Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson. In five previous at-bats against the Milwaukee ace, Swanson has reached base safely four times. A pair of singles and two home runs combine to give him an .800 batting average against Burnes coming into Friday’s NLDS opener. While the sample size is limited, Swanson has clearly had Burnes’ number. Look to play over on the Georgia native’s total bases MLB DFS picks prop for today’s game.

Corbin Burnes (MIL) Under 8.0 Total Strikeouts

One unique aspect of playoff baseball compared to the regular season is the short hook given to most starting pitchers. While Brewers starter Corbin Burnes is one of the best in the game today, his total strikeouts line is sitting at a lofty 8.0 for Game 1 of the NLDS. Burnes struck out 216 batters he faced on the season, but he got roughed up in his only previous outing against the Braves. Burnes lasted just four innings in that game, allowing nine hits and five runs while fanning six before being pulled. Expect the Braves hitters to be disciplined in a postseason setting. The safest option here is to go under Burnes’ total strikeouts prop.

Mike Zunino (TB) Under 0.5 Total Bases

Tampa Bay Rays catcher Mike Zunino is the epitome of modern-day hitters. While he stood out this season by slugging 33 home runs, he did little else but hit the ball out of the yard. Those 33 homers accounted for nearly half of Zunino’s 72 hits on the year. Given that he is an all-or-nothing batter, he will have a hard time clearing the Underdog Fantasy MLB DFS line of 0.5 total bases. Further complicating things for him today is Boston Red Sox starter Chris Sale. In 14 prior at-bats against him, Zunino has struck out eight times and failed to record a single hit. We’ll play under on his total bases for Game 2 of the ALDS.

Walker Buehler (LAD) Over 5.0 Total Strikeouts

Among the numerous contenders for the NL Cy Young Award this season is Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Walker Buehler. He piled up 212 total strikeouts over the course of the regular season. Buehler also faced the San Francisco Giants six different times. In four of those six outings, he struck out a minimum of five Giants batters. He completely shut down San Fran in three of those starts and pitched at least six innings in all but one of the matchups. After going to his bullpen earlier than expected in Wednesday’s NL Wild Card Game, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see manager Dave Roberts ride Buehler as long as possible tonight. Given that Buehler averaged over one strikeout per inning during the season, a start of any kind of length tonight should be enough for him to go over his MLB DFS picks line.

Albert Pujols (LAD) Under 0.5 Total Bases

Sometimes, it’s best not to overthink things when making MLB DFS picks. That’s exactly the case when it comes to the line of 0.5 total bases that Underdog Fantasy has assigned to Albert Pujols ahead of the Dodgers’ NLDS opener against the Giants. While Pujols will no doubt be inducted into Cooperstown once his playing days are over, he is no longer the everyday player he once was. It would be a surprise to see Pujols in the Dodgers’ Game 1 starting lineup. Assuming he is not, he will likely only have one plate appearance in the game as a pinch-hitter. Given how tough Giants’ pitching has been all season, we can feel confident in saying Pujols won’t get a hit in that lone at-bat off the bench.
