Injuries are common in the physical sport of football. However, when one of the league’s stars is sidelined, it is more disappointing. That is the current reality, following the Ja’Marr Chase injury update. However, the show must go on, and it means positive things for the Tyler Boyd fantasy football outlook. The same can be said for fellow Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins.
Before we discuss the two healthy receivers, let’s take a look at the Ja’Marr Chase injury news.
Ja’Marr Chase Injury Update
The second-year wide receiver recently injured his hip, and we received a Ja’Marr Chase injury update today. Adam Schefter reports that the Ja’Marr Chase hip injury is expected to keep him out for 4-6 weeks.
Due to this timeframe, it would make sense for Chase to go on Injury Reserve, which would guarantee he is out for at least four weeks. For Ja’Marr Chase fantasy football owners, this would mean you could stash him in your IR spot, as long as your league has one. If it doesn’t, you will be stuck wasting a roster spot, as you don’t want to drop him.
Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd Fantasy Football Outlook
While the Ja’Marr Chase injury is unfortunate, we need to discuss the positive impact it has on the Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd fantasy football owners.
Tee Higgins has mostly been viewed as a high-end WR2 this season. However, following the Ja’Marr Chase injury, the Tee Higgins fantasy football value is a WR1. For my Week 8 fantasy football rankings, Higgins will be a top-10 play.
Tyler Boyd fantasy football owners are perhaps the most delighted, as his value likely rises the most. Boyd has been viewed as a flex, at best, this season. His yards have been inconsistent. However, vaulting to the WR2 in this offense led by Joe Burrow, Tyler Boyd can be played as a fantasy football WR2 for your team this week. However, he should likely be viewed as a high-end WR3 during the majority of Chase’s absence.
As for other Bengals, Joe Burrow sees a slight decrease in value, but you are still playing him. Hayden Hurst should see a slight uptick in targets, which increases his value. Joe Mixon remains largely unaffected in terms of his fantasy football value, in my opinion.
