There were a number of big NBA Summer League performances on Sunday, but Gary Trent Jr., Ignas Brazdeikis and Duncan Robinson impressed the most.
Gary Trent Jr. Catches Fire For Blazers
Trent Jr. caught fire from the outside for the Trail Blazers on Sunday, going 10-12 from the floor, and 7-8 from three-point range. He finished with a game-high 31 points. Not just a scorer, Trent also contributed five assists, six rebounds and two steals. Trent Jr. is looking to carve out a wing role on the Portland roster this season and shooting like this will help.
Ignas Brazdeikis Looks Like a Steal For Knicks
Brazdeikis’ ability to score from everywhere on the floor was on display Sunday. The rookie second-round pick out of Michigan put up 30 points on 11-19 shooting, including a 3-6 shooting performance from range. To round out his performance, Brazdeikis chipped in eight rebounds in the overtime loss. The Knicks depth chart is wide open, and Brazdeikis’ ability to score could land him a spot.
Duncan Robinson Shines at Power Forward For Heat
In college at Michigan, the sharp-shooting Robinson played on the wing. The Heat have visions of using him as a 6’8″ stretch four, and it looks promising. He put up 20 points on 8-13 shooting and pulled down 10 rebounds. Even though his outside shot wasn’t falling (2-7) Robinson found a way to impact the game. If he can get his outside shot working, the Heat may have found a contributor.
