Tennessee Titans Preview

While it wasn’t the cleanest game by any stretch, the Titans ultimately emerged victorious over the Indianapolis Colts in a crucial AFC South battle last week. Tennessee now sits as runaway NFL betting favorites to win the division after three weeks of play. Ryan Tannehill overcame a pair of interceptions to throw three touchdown passes in the victory. It’s worth noting that they all went to unlikely targets as A.J. Brown left the Week 3 contest with an injury. Fellow star Julio Jones was held to just three catches for 47 yards in another disappointing effort. The Titans had the ground game working once again last week though, led by another 100-yard day from Derrick Henry. Tannehill also got in on the act with 56 rushing yards.

The fact that the Titans were able to hold an edge in time of possession and win the game despite a -3 turnover differential is quite impressive. The defense has also looked much better over the last six quarters than it did to start the year. The Titans held the Colts below the 200-yard threshold through the air. While the unit still ranks just 22nd in overall defensive efficiency (Football Outsiders), the secondary at least seems to be trending in the right direction.

New York Jets Preview

Honestly, it can’t get much worse than the past two weeks for the New York Jets. Despite all of the excitement and anticipation surrounding rookie head coach Robert Saleh and new QB Zach Wilson, this is clearly going to be a season of growing pains. The Jets were shut out last weekend by the Denver Broncos. They only managed 11 first downs and 162 total yards of offense in the contest. Wilson threw two more interceptions, bringing his total to seven through three games. At this point, he is locked in a dead heat with fellow rookie Trevor Lawrence of the Jacksonville Jaguars to lead the NFL in INTs this season. Corey Davis once again led the team in receptions and yards last week and will face his former outfit on Sunday.

It should be said that Wilson cannot be solely blamed for the Jets’ offensive woes. In fact, it’ll be really hard to get a great read on whether he has what it takes to succeed in the pros given the horrendous offensive line he has in front of him. The unit allowed another five sacks last week. They also can’t run block whatsoever. New York’s leading rusher in Week 3 was rookie back Michael Carter. He finished with a whopping 24 yards on nine carries. For as bad as the offense has been, the Jets’ defense has actually been respectable thus far. They enter this Week 4 NFL betting matchup ranked 16th in adjusted efficiency. Quinnen Williams chalked up 1.5 sacks last week to lead the effort.
