Seemingly out of nowhere, the Bills pulled off two trades in a matter of seconds that nobody saw coming.

First, the Bills traded injury-prone Sammy Watkins to the LA Rams with a 2018 sixth-round pick in exchange for cornerback E.J. Gaines and a 2018 second-round draft pick.

The second trade sent cornerback Ronald Darby to the Eagles in exchange for wide receiver Jordan Matthews and a 2018 third-round pick.

Sammy Watkins is a 24-year-old who offers tremendous upside, but has been hit with nagging injuries early in his career. He has put together a tremendous camp, so if there was a time to be excited about Watkins, it would be now. He has game-changing ability, which is something the Rams certainly lack among their pass-catchers. We will join former teammate Robert Woods in hoping to make last year’s first overall pick, Jared Goff, not look like a mistake of a draft pick.

With these two trades, the Bills added a lot of value with the draft picks, Gaines, and Matthews. Jordan Matthews has caught 225 passes for 2,673 yards in his first three seasons. He and rookie Zay Jones should lead the wideouts for the Bills this season while Shady McCoy will continue to do his thing.

What do you think about these two trades? Were there any winners or losers?
