Texas Tech vs Arkansas Prediction | Sweet 16 Expert Picks
The Texas Tech Red Raiders came into this tournament as one of the elite shooting teams in the country, shooting 47% from the field and 37.9% from three-point range. They have plenty of lethal shooters on the team which has made their struggles shooting the ball in the tournament that much more perplexing.
While the sample size is admittedly small, the Red Raiders shot just 28% and 14% respectively from deep in their last two wins. Even with their struggles shooting the ball, they still won both their games by a combined 23 points. Texas Tech is a deep team and sooner or later they are going to break out of their shooting slump. They play a slow tempo game but are incredibly efficient on both sides of the ball. If they can find their three-point touch again, they’ll find themselves in the Elite 8.
Arkansas shocked a lot of fans with their 75-66 win over St. John’s in the second round of the tournament. They used their stifling defense along a fast pace offense that looked to attack in transition to take down the Red Storm. The biggest news for the Razorbacks is that their leading scorer Adou Thiero will be back for this game.
While that news is certainly big, there are still plenty of question marks for Arkansas. If Thiero isn’t at 100%, he could be more of a liability than an asset as he hasn’t played in over a month. On top of that, Arkansas shoots the ball poorly from deep as seen in their 2/19 showing against St. John’s and their team average 33% this season. Arkansas got away with poor shooting once, against a team with the firepower of Texas Tech, they won’t get away with it again.
For our Texas Tech vs Arkansas prediction, we are picking the Texas Tech Red Raiders to win and move on in the NCAA Tournament
