Seiya Suzuki Fantasy Baseball Breakout Candidate
Seiya Suzuki got a little lost in the Bellinger shuffle last year in Chicago. He was outshined by Ian Happ in that outfield as well. That, on top of Suzuki still being relatively new since his migration to MLB, and his name value just isn’t gathering the same attention in fantasy baseball as some of his equally producing peers.
The Seiya Suzuki fantasy numbers, however, show that he should be a big target for fantasy owners this year. Seiya is seeing his ADP close to 100th overall and is coming off the board close to the 30th OF taken on average, despite his projections having him much closer to a top 20 OF possibly.
His numbers were stellar last year, with a .285 BA, a .485 SLG, and a .357 OBP. The home runs were a little low, with only 20, but the best part of Suzuki is his opportunity to improve. This is only his third year in the league and the leap he took last year was a great sign that he could continue to make big strides. Being the third OF taken off his team means you can get a solid OF3 or an optimistic OF2 when most people are taking bench pieces, if you play your cards right.
