Ryan Jeffers is a Fantasy Baseball Sleepers at Catcher for 2024

For all the spotlight the surprising Minnesota Twins got last year, somehow most of that shine missed Ryan Jeffers. By all respects, you could call 2023 the Ryan Jeffers fantasy baseball breakout, with a WAR of 3.3, OPS of .858, and a BA of .276. However, the reason Jeffers is considered our “sleeper” for 2024 is that nobody seems to think that indicates future performance for him.

Ryan Jeffers Fantasy Baseball Sleeper 2024

The Ryan Jeffers fantasy baseball ADP has him being undrafted in most leagues this year. While his OPS and Slugging numbers are projected to remain top-10, his other stats are expected to decline.

The reason Ryan Jeffers is a fantasy baseball sleeper, however, is there seems to be just as much evidence he will improve as there is he’ll take a step back. While last year was a huge jump for Jeffers, it also makes sense. The young catcher is only 26 years old, and he finally found himself producing on a Twins team good enough for him to drive others in. He was also set to be the second fiddle at catcher to Cristian Vasquez, and he clearly won the position battle, placing him in a spot to be the guy at that position this year. While some platooning will still happen, that was the biggest hit to his fantasy value last year and it should be less of a concern.

His numbers also have clear areas of growth he could still make. Jeffers gives you a reliable and consistent backup option with his OPS and BA numbers, but his HRs and Ks have been the issue. So, as good as he was last year, 10 more homers would have made him a top-10 fantasy baseball catcher. If he can match that with any improvement at all in the strikeout department, Ryan Jeffers will be a diamond in the rough at a very scarce position.
