Seahawks vs Washington Overview

The Seahawks were able to rebound nicely from their stunning home loss to the New York Giants two weeks ago. After covering as sizable NFL picks favorites against New York’s other team, the Jets, Seattle will look to carry that momentum over into this road game. The Jets have a way of making every opposing offense look pretty good, but it’s fair to question whether Russell Wilson and the Seahawks have truly fixed what ailed them against the Giants and in a number of games prior. Having to contend with Chase Young, Montez Sweat, and the ferocious Washington defensive front is no easy task. Chris Carson and the run game could prove vital to the Seahawks’ overall offensive success on Sunday.

The biggest question ahead of this game for Washington and NFL picks bettors concerns the status of quarterback Alex Smith. After being forced out of last week’s win due to a calf strain, Smith is yet to practice this week at the time of writing. While he’s not an explosive quarterback by any means, he’s better than Washington’s alternative, Dwayne Haskins. With the Seahawks being most vulnerable defensively in the secondary, having a quarterback who can successfully go through his reads and hit pass-catchers Terry McLaurin and Logan Thomas cannot be overstated. If Smith is ultimately ruled out, there’s no guarantee that Haskins will be able to accomplish any of those things.

  • Seahawks 2020 Betting Trends: 7-6 ATS; 6-7 to the Over
  • Washington 2020 Betting Trends: 8-5 ATS; 5-8 to the Over
  • Since 2000, the Seahawks are 8-17-2 ATS when playing on the road following a blowout win of 20 points or more.
  • Washington is 8-2 ATS in their last ten games with Alex Smith as their starting quarterback.
  • Road teams are 5-0 straight up and 4-0-1 ATS in the last five head-to-head meetings between the Seahawks and Washington.

Monkey Knife Fight NFL Props

Monkey Knife Fight is a DFS site unlike DraftKings or FanDuel. Instead, the contests feature props to play, with varying multipliers for each contest. Unlike the aforementioned sites, you are only competing with yourself when making NFL picks on MKF, and you do not need to worry about annoying salary caps.

Monkey Knife Fight has several great NFL props for the entire Week 15 slate. Here is a fun one that I like for the Seahawks vs Washington game.

It’s hard to bet much of anything over against the Washington defense. The Football Team comes into Week 15 allowing the third-fewest passing yards per game (206.3) and ranked fourth in adjusted defensive efficiency, according to Football Outsiders. Russell Wilson is a great player, but he’s only surpassed 260.5 yards passing once in Seattle’s last five games, none of which came against Washington. Under is the call for Wilson in this NFL picks contest.

One player who actually might benefit if Dwayne Haskins has to start is Terry McLaurin. The second-year wideout has actually seen his yardage totals drop off with Alex Smith under center, even as Football Team has put together winning results. I’m not too concerned about predicting McLaurin to surpass 75 receiving yards regardless of who plays QB though. The Seahawks defense surrenders nearly 300 passing yards per game, and McLaurin is a lock to see plenty of targets.

Picking both yardage totals correctly in this NFL props contest would win you 3x your buy-in.

Seahawks vs Wahsington NFL Picks and NFL Odds

The NFL picks spread for this game opened as Seahawks -3 on the lookahead. Due to the uncertainty of Alex Smith, the line rose rather quickly after it was put back on the board following Week 14 action. The total has risen one point from opening to the current 44.5.

It’s looking likely that both teams will be a part of the NFC’s postseason, but coming into this game, Washington is the much hotter team. The Seahawks are only 4-4 following their 5-0 start, while Football Team has won four straight and five of their last seven after starting the year 1-5. Ron Rivera has done a phenomenal job in leading a playoff push that not many would’ve thought possible two months ago.

The total on this game is too low for me to get overly excited about taking the under. The uncertain status of Alex Smith has me holding my nose, but I’ll roll with Washington ATS as my game pick. The defense is simply too good to comfortably bet against. I feel much better about having a field goal and change in my pocket with the home underdog.
