Scottie Barnes Highlights

Scottie Barnes Draft Profile

Strengths

Although listed as a small forward, Scottie Barnes has the skills to play just about anywhere on the floor. He regularly played the point during his lone season at Florida State. He plays with a tremendous amount of effort and passion. In Barnes, NBA teams will be getting a player capable of running an offense at one end while defending the 4 or 5 on defense. Barnes has a great feel for the game and is a threat in transition. His agility and quickness are above average for a player of his size. Barnes uses his keen footwork and quick hands to his advantage on the defensive end. He is arguably the most versatile defender in the 2021 NBA Draft class.

Weaknesses

While Barnes has all the tools and athleticism to be a star in the NBA, he will need to polish his offensive game for that to happen. Areas of particular concern are his 3-point shot and free throws. Barnes had very poor shooting percentages in both areas during his lone college season. He will need to improve as a shooter to truly take his game to the next level.
