San Francisco Dons Preview
Needless to say, San Francisco certainly benefitted from having a day off on Sunday. The Dons outlasted Santa Clara in double overtime on Saturday night in a game that saw USF rally from a 10-point deficit with less than five minutes remaining just to force OT. That epic victory was preceded by a dominant win over Pacific on Friday. The question now becomes whether the Dons have any more magic left in the tank for what figures to be a major uphill battle on Monday night.
Gonzaga Bulldogs Preview
After sharing the conference’s regular season championship, Gonzaga enjoyed a triple-bye into the Semifinal Round of the WCC Tournament. It has now been over a full calendar month since the Bulldogs last lost a game. Mark Few’s team got its revenge on Saint Mary’s in its final conference game before pummeling Chicago State to conclude the regular season. Gonzaga has won nine of the last ten WCC Tournaments and will be looking to stand tall in Las Vegas for a fourth consecutive year.

San Francisco vs Gonzaga Prediction | College Basketball Betting Picks
In terms of win-loss records, Gonzaga has thoroughly dominated this head-to-head series in recent years. Coming into Monday’s semifinal matchup, the Bulldogs have won 26 straight meetings against San Francisco, a streak that dates all the way back to 2013! The Dons made it tough on their home floor back in early January before the Zags ultimately prevailed by two. In the rematch in Spokane last month, Gonzaga cruised to a 17-point victory.
So, can Chris Gerlufsen draw up a magical game plan to keep the Dons competitive on a neutral floor? While nothing is impossible, San Francisco certainly has a daunting task ahead. The backcourt tandem of Khalil Shabazz and Tyrell Roberts will have to shoot the lights out in order for USF to have a chance.
In the second regular-season meeting between these teams, San Francisco had no answers defensively. Co-WCC Player of the Year Drew Timme figures to be in line for another very productive game on Monday given USF’s lack of talent in the frontcourt. The Dons can match up from a size standpoint, but their bigs will be hard-pressed to hold up defensively in the post without help.
The problem with dropping extra defenders in to help on Timme is that Gonzaga also has plenty of sharpshooters on the perimeter. Julian Strawther is always a threat, and Rasir Bolton had two of his best games of the regular season against San Francisco. As the KenPom ratings suggest, the Zags’ high-powered offense should be able to flex its muscle against a very average defensive opponent.
