With the likely departure of Patrick Mills, the “old regime” of the San Antonio Spurs feel truly gone. The Spurs really need to do what they can to re-sign DeMar DeRozan this offseason. The good news for San Antonio is that they still having promising young talent in Keldon Johnson, Lonnie Walker and Dejounte Murray. They can also afford to take on a large contract this offseason (trade for Ben Simmons?). The certainly have the cap space and the system, thanks to Gregg Popovich.

San Antonio Spurs Draft Targets

Kai Jones

The Spurs are in desperate need of depth in the frontcourt. Enter Kai Jones. For what Jones lacks in a solidified low-post game, he makes up for with athleticism and defense. His ability to run the floor, and the fact that he started playing basketball at 15 years old, should make him an intriguing prospect for the Spurs to draft and develop. He could be a solid replacement for Trey Lyles.

Tre Mann

Should the Spurs plan on losing Patrick Mills in NBA Free Agency, they could turn to Tre Mann. The guard has a unique skillset and ability to create his own shot. He is difficult for defenders to stick with, and he is willing to shoot or drive to the rim, depending on what the defense gives him. Mann’s defense was lackluster at Florida, but at 6-3, he has the physical tools to develop that facet of his game.
