The Buffalo Sabres snapped their impressive 18-game losing streak, with an even more impressive 6-1 win over the Flyers last night. I hope Buffalo Sabres players and fans enjoyed the game and soaked up all the good feelings, because it could be back to the L column tonight in the Sabres vs Rangers game.

Sabres Look For Victory on Back to Back Nights

You’d have to imagine that the task of picking up a second straight victory after losing 18 games in a row is daunting enough without the added factor of playing on consecutive nights.

Alas, the Sabres suffering will continue, as that is exactly what they are tasked with doing tonight.

Sure, they looked good offensively against the Flyers last night, beating them by a score of 6-1. The final score does not tell the whole story though, as the Sabres were still outshot 32-27, heavily relying on goaltender Linus Ullmark, who will likely be on the bench tonight.

Another thing to consider is that the Flyers are massively underachieving and are constantly teetering on the line between fixing what they’ve got and blowing the whole thing up. The Sabres, on the other hand, were desperately trying to find a win. After an OT loss two days previous, they found the perfect team to take advantage of in Philadelphia.

High–Scoring Rangers Will Be a Problem

Tonight, they face a young and hungry Rangers team, who is on their way up and can score the puck with the best of them.

I don’t think it matters much who the Sabres start in net, as the Rangers score at the 10th-highest rate in the NHL. The Sabres sit in dead last. This was on display through the entirety of their losing streak, getting outscored by a mind-blowing 45 goals.

Yes, the Sabres were outscored 75-30 across 18 games.

In addition, the Rangers currently lead the season series three games to one, and just beat the Sabres by a score of 5-3 a bit over a week ago.

A New Streak on Horizon for Sabres

I called the Sabres losing streak impressive earlier, which it really is. It is very hard to lose 18 games in a row.

What might be even harder is trying to get yourself up for another game less than 24 hours after your first victory in five full weeks.

I’m sure this losing streak will be much shorter, but there is no doubt it starts tonight.

    Sabres vs Rangers Betting Leans

What is interesting about the Sabres scoring stats over the life of their losing streak was not only the total amount of goals, but also the exact number of goals scored by their opponents and themselves in any given game. The numbers five and two jump out at you like they are on a trampoline.

In 18 games, the Sabres opponents scored exactly five goals seven different times, while the Sabres themselves scored two goals eight different times.

A final score of 5-2 happened five times.

    I don’t know about you, but I think I see a pattern.

    Sabres vs Rangers Prediction

Bet this game any way you’d like, as long as you’re going against the Sabres.

I’ll personally be on Rangers in regulation (-162) & Exact Score 5-2 (+1600)
