Rockets vs Pistons NBA Betting Overview

    Rockets Outlook

It’s the dawn of a new day in Houston following last week’s blockbuster James Harden trade. With the bearded drama king jettisoned to Brooklyn, the Rockets now turn their attention to the future. Between the trade of Harden and the offseason trade of Russell Westbrook, Houston has climbed back into a surplus of draft picks for the coming years.

In the present, the Rockets are unfortunately going to be up against it on a nightly basis. The team enters Friday’s game having lost three straight and will look to spoil the grand opening of Michigan betting with a road win over the Pistons. Victor Oladipo has balled in his first two games as a Rocket and will look to continue his strong start in tonight’s game. The Rockets will once again be without John Wall though, as he is not expected to make his return from a knee injury until next week.

    Rockets Injury Report
    • Out: Christian Wood (ankle)
    • Out: John Wall (knee)
    • Out: Danuel House Jr. (virus)

    Pistons Outlook

Like Houston, the Pistons come into Friday’s game on a losing streak of their own. Most recently, Detroit dropped an overtime game at the Atlanta Hawks. Five Pistons scored in double figures in that contest, led by Jerami Grant’s 32 points. Grant has been sensational in the first month of the season after signing a three-year contract with Detroit in the offseason.

Unfortunately, the Pistons don’t have a whole lot of reliable supporting cast around him, making it tough to cover the Michigan betting line as NBA betting favorites. Blake Griffin is far from the player many remember him as in his days as a Los Angeles Clipper. Derrick Rose and Delon Wright provide adequate ball distribution from the point guard position but can’t be counted on for scoring on a regular basis. Despite the uphill battle Detroit faces this season, the Pistons enter Friday night’s game with a winning ATS record on the season.

    • Out: Killian Hayes (hip)
    • Probable: Josh Jackson (quad)

Rockets vs Pistons NBA Betting Trends

    • Rockets 2020-21 Betting Trends: 4-9 ATS; 4-8-1 to the Over
    • Pistons 2020-21 Betting Trends: 7-6-1 ATS; 8-6 to the Over
    • The Rockets are just 2-7 SU and 3-6 ATS as an underdog this season.
    • Despite their 3-11 record, the Pistons are 4-3 ATS at home this season.
    • Pistons home games are just 2-5 to the Over this season.

    Rockets vs Pistons Statistics

    • Houston is averaging 109.6 points per game (PPG) this season (No. 20 in the NBA)
    • Houston is surrendering 112.4 PPG on the season (No. 20 in the NBA)
    • Detroit is averaging 109.4 PPG this season (No. 21 in the NBA)
    • Detroit is surrendering 114.3 PPG (No. 23 in the NBA)

    Rockets vs Pistons Prop Bet

Jerami Grant rebounds NBA props Rockets vs Pistons prediction Michigan betting

Jerami Grant Total Rebounds: Over 5.5 (+106 at Bovada Sportsbook)

Acquiring Jerami Grant in the offseason has paid off in a big way for the Pistons even as they continue to struggle in the win-loss column. Grant has quickly asserted himself as the team’s go-to scorer, averaging over 25 points per game. He is also logging big minutes on a regular basis, averaging 36.7 per game. More time on the court means more opportunity to grab rebounds. While his contributions on the glass haven’t been quite as consistent as his scoring, Grant still enters Friday’s game averaging 6.1 boards.

The NBA betting rebounds line of 5.5 requires that Grant achieve his season average at worst for the Over to hit. This matchup between the Rockets and Pistons features two teams in the bottom half of the NBA in field goal percentage. More missed shots also mean more available rebounds. Look for Grant to be active on the glass throughout and eclipse the NBA player props threshold.
