Among Sunday’s Week 3 NFL betting slate is this interesting cross-conference showdown. After pulling off an upset last week to level their record at 1-1, the Baltimore Ravens will take to the road to battle the winless Detroit Lions. The Lions played a solid first half in their Week 2 loss on Monday Night Football before failing to even score over the final two quarters. Given the teams’ records and respective preseason expectations, it’s no surprise to see the NFL betting odds favoring the road team by over a touchdown.

The following Ravens vs Lions NFL betting preview will give you the current odds, betting trends, stream and picks for the Week 3 matchup.

Baltimore Ravens Preview

You have to give Lamar Jackson credit where credit is due. The oft-ridiculed Ravens quarterback rebounded from a poor first half to lead Baltimore to a much-needed victory over the mighty Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2. Jackson overcame two interceptions and put together a stat-sheet stuffing effort to finish with 239 yards passing, 107 yards rushing and three total touchdowns. After a disappointing Week 1 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, taking down the Chiefs was a huge lift for the Ravens.

Jackson wasn’t the only one to have a big game on the ground in Week 2. Rookie back Ty’Son Williams was impressive once again, turning 13 carries into 77 yards. Veteran Latavius Murray had 36 yards and a score. We even got a glimpse of Devonta Freeman in Week 2 for Baltimore. Wideout Marquise Brown led the Ravens’ pass-catchers with 113 yards and a score. Baltimore dictated the time of possession against the Chiefs and should be able to again in this NFL betting matchup against the awful Lions defense.

Detroit Lions Preview

Many expected Monday night’s NFC North Divisional battle to be a blowout. To the Lions’ credit, they played outstanding in the first half and actually led by a field goal at the break. Anyone who had NFL betting tickets on Detroit’s team total to go over 17.5 ended the night sick to their stomach. The Lions failed to score over the final 30 minutes and ultimately lost by 18. For as well as Jared Goff played in the first half, he seemingly gave it all right back with two turnovers after the break.

Expectations were low for the Lions coming into the season. Based on what we’ve seen over the first two weeks, that sentiment is unlikely to change. Detroit is horrendous defensively. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers pretty much did whatever they wanted in the second half in Week 2. On offense, the pressure is squarely on Goff to keep the Lions competitive. Both T.J. Hockenson and Quintez Cephus eclipsed 60 yards receiving and found the end zone in Week 2. However, a poor offensive line sees the Lions have major deficiencies in the run game. This team will likely be in their fair share of shootouts this season.
