The two preseason favorites to win the AFC South division will collide head-to-head for the first time in Week 3. After suffering back-to-back home losses to open the season, the Indianapolis Colts will aim to get back on track on Sunday. Doing so will require them to go into Nashville as NFL betting underdogs and knock off the rival Tennessee Titans. After a home loss of their own to open the year, the Titans rallied for a thrilling overtime victory last week.

Indianapolis Colts Preview

The Colts fought hard on Sunday but came up short for the second straight week against an NFC West opponent. Perhaps of bigger concern than the team’s 0-2 start is the health of QB Carson Wentz moving forward. Wentz sprained both of his ankles on an awkward sack attempt in the fourth quarter of the Week 2 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. He never returned to the game, and backup Jacob Eason was no match for one of the NFL’s top defenses. Wentz’s availability will be critical to the Colts’ prospects of winning in Week 3, let alone covering the NFL betting spread.

Prior to getting hurt, Wentz actually played admirably well against the Rams. His 247 yards passing and 37 yards rushing really kept the Colts in the game. Receiver Michael Pittman Jr. exploded for 123 yards on eight catches. Tight end Jack Doyle and wideout Zach Pascal each finished with five catches as well. After being one of the NFL’s better defensive teams a year ago, Indianapolis has struggled to slow down their opponents in each of the first two weeks. The D will need to be a lot better if they hope to contain the high-powered Titans offense in Week 3.

Tennessee Titans Preview

After getting blown out as NFL betting favorites in Week 1, the Titans found themselves down 15 and staring an 0-2 start in the face at halftime of Sunday’s game at the Seattle Seahawks. Then, Derrick Henry happened. The superstar running back ran wild in the second half. In fact, he rushed for more yards in the second half than the Seahawks offense could muster collectively over the final 30 minutes. After forcing overtime, Tennessee went on to kick a game-winning field goal to stun Seattle and the 12th Man. King Henry finished the day with 182 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Not known for his prowess as a pass-catcher, he even added six receptions for 55 yards. Talk about taking over a game!

While Henry certainly led the way, he wasn’t the only player to get back on track for the Titans in Week 2. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill was impressive with 347 yards passing. After a disappointing Titans debut, Julio Jones bounced back to lead the team with 128 receiving yards in the win. Although the first half wasn’t pretty, Tennessee’s defense also deserves credit for holding the Seahawks to just six points over the final two quarters and overtime. Denico Autry had 1.5 sacks to highlight a collective effort.
