Although they did pull away quickly in the second half, they did only hold a nine-point lead at halftime. Purdue had a massive size advantage on Grambling State and still needed a helpful whistle to pull away as the second half started.
Utah State on the other hand did everything that was asked of them. To win in the tournament and beat a team like Purdue, you have to be deep. The Aggies showed their depth in the first round with four of their five starters scoring in double digits. He may not have the star power of Zach Edey, but forward Great Osobor has been a force all season, averaging over 17 points and nine rebounds per game.
The key factor in this game is going to be the foul situation. If Zach Edey is allowed to clear space however he wants, Utah State is going to be in real trouble. On the other hand, if the officials start to clamp down on Edey, Purdue has shown they struggle greatly without him. The officials will likely let this game get a little physical, which should work towards the favor of Purdue.
