Pro Football Focus (PFF) is known for pushing their subjective grades on players as objective stats. Unfortunately, the mass majority of NFL fans eat this up and treat PFF’s work as scripture. While you can tell which side of the fence I stand on, at least the majority of their grades are based on some type of stats (which were subjectively selected, but I digress). However, they are deciding not to stay in their lane on grading players, because they have recently released the PFF NFL Head Coach Rankings.
Of course, these NFL Head Coach Rankings were accompanied by stats…kind of. They decide when to use the stats and when to use them as fluff for their piece. As a whole, these rankings are hilariously bad.
Let’s take a look at the 2022 PFF NFL Head Coach Rankings. These rankings are based on stats (kind of) for current NFL head coaches who have had NFL head coaching experience since 2011. So, Dennis Allen is included in these rankings while Mike McDaniel is not. In total, 26 coaches were ranked.
