The Patriots dropped their first game of the season, against the Dolphins. However, they had no business losing that game. They looked to be the better team, but two costly fumbles proved to be too much to overcome. Still, rookie Mac Jones looked the part, completing 29-of-39 passes for 281 yards and a touchdown against a good defense. Damien Harris ran for 100 yards on 23 carries, and the defense limited what Miami did all day. It came down to those two costly plays.
The Jets, on the otherhand, were very clearly outmatched by the Panthers. Zach Wilson looks like a solid player, but he completed just 20-of-37 passes for 258 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. There was no run offense, and now the offensive line will be worse with Mekhi Becton out. Defensively, they didn’t provide much resistance for Carolina. We will see if they can show up against New England for this NFL betting matchup.
