On the same day that Aaron Rodgers has been reported to be returning to the Green Bay Packers this season, Green Bay has found themselves to be in another rumor. According to Trey Wingo, the Packers are rumored to be involved in a Randall Cobb trade. If you think the Rodgers and Cobb news is connected, you may be correct.
Randall Cobb Trade to the Packers Coming?
One of Aaron Rodgers’ closest friends off the field is Randall Cobb. When he was not brought back to the Packers, it certainly rubbed Rodgers the wrong way, as have many other front office decisions over the past couple years. Now, it appears the front office is looking to reunite the two, possibly as a way to extend an olive branch.
The current Houston Texans wide receiver has not found much success away from Green Bay. He did total 828 yards in his lone season with the Dallas Cowboys. However, Cobb finished with only 38 catches for 441 yards last season with the Texans.
Houston currently has their own quarterback controversy. With a Deshaun Watson trade also seeming inevitble, the Texans could be looking for a late-round draft pick for Cobb in order to further speed up the rebuilding process. Houston also recently traded for former Chicago Bears slot receiver Anthony Miller, making Cobb even more expendable.
Suddenly, the Packers could be looking at a crowded reciving corps. However, let’s first wait until Rodgers shows up to training camp, then we’ll go from there.
