Oklahoma vs Oklahoma State College Football Picks

The Bedlam rivalry series has been no strange to high-stakes scenarios over the years and 2020 is no exception. Both teams desperately need a win over their in-state rival on Saturday to remain in contention for a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game. The line movement for the game has seen heavy sharp college football picks action on both sides. After opening at Oklahoma -10, the line quickly plummeted early in the week to OU -5.5. Buyback came shortly after, and the line has stabilized at OU -7 since Tuesday. The total has moved up by two and a half points from opening lines to an even 60 at MyBookie Sportsbook.

Oklahoma State Cowboys Overview

Player availability may prove to be the x-factor for Oklahoma State this week. Among those who have missed practice due to injuries this week include superstar running back Chuba Hubbard and wide receiver Tylan Wallace. The offensive line has been banged up all season as well. The mounting casualties showed in the Cowboys’ game against Kansas State two weeks ago when they only mustered around four yards per snap offensively. Pokes fans will hope that last week’s bye was enough to get the major contributors back for Bedlam. Either way, quarterback Spencer Sanders will need to evade the Oklahoma pass rush and play mistake-free football for OSU to have a realistic shot in this week’s college football picks.

One thing Mike Gundy’s Cowboys have done successfully this season is to challenge the narrative that the Big 12 Conference doesn’t play defense. OSU is allowing the fewest points per game of any Big 12 team and is second only to West Virginia in yards allowed per game. Lockdown coverage and a steady dose of pressure figure to be vital to the Pokes’ chances of winning Bedlam. Senior linebacker Calvin Bundage has been sharp in the last few games and will need to be again on Saturday.

Oklahoma Sooners Overview

After dropping two of their first three games to start the year, Lincoln Riley’s Oklahoma team has quietly hit their stride and covered the college football picks spread in each of their last four games. Highly touted freshman quarterback Spencer Rattler has settled in as the starter, although he did emerge from a dominant win over Kansas with a hip injury. The week off should have him ready for Bedlam, but he will need to be at his best against the stingy Pokes secondary. Tailback Rhamondre Stevenson is unlikely to average eight yards per carry as he did against Texas Tech and Kansas. With that said, success on the ground will be huge for the Sooners to help take the pressure off of Rattler.

Oklahoma’s defensive numbers have benefitted from recent matchups against Big 12 cellar-dwellers Texas Tech and Kansas, but there is talent at all levels. The Sooners have to be licking their chops at the thought of rushing against a patchwork OSU offensive line. A consistent pass rush will be paramount for OU to win in this week’s college football picks given that the corners will be giving up a lot of size in their perimeter matchups.
