The official entry list for the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500 is set. With 33 confirmed entrants, this means that there will be no bump day drama this year. Every driver on the Indy 500 entry list is guaranteed a spot in the field.
The 33-car lineup features nine past winners of the race, five former NTT IndyCar Series champions and four drivers competing for Rookie of the Year honors. Headlining the field is defending race winner and series champion Alex Palou, who enters as one of the favorites to claim back-to-back victories at IMS.

2026 Indy 500 Qualifying Format
Qualifying for the Indianapolis 500 is a two-day affair that takes place this Saturday and Sunday, May 16-17. Much like the NASCAR All-Star Race taking place this weekend, the format for Indy 500 qualifying has been tweaked slightly for 2026, adding an additional round to compensate for the absence of bump day.
On Day One, all 33 drivers on the Indy 500 entry list will make timed four-lap runs and can continue to take additional attempts until the session concludes at 5:50 p.m. ET. Positions 16 through 33 on the starting grid will be locked in at that point. The nine fastest drivers automatically advance to Sunday’s Top 12 round.
The new wrinkle this year is the Final 15 round on Sunday. Drivers who finished 10th through 15th on Day One each get one attempt to post a four-lap average, with the three fastest joining the Top 12 round. From there, the top six advance to the Firestone Fast Six — the pole shootout — where one final four-lap run determines who earns the most coveted starting position in IndyCar racing.
