NBA Western Conference Quarterfinals NBA Playoffs Game 5 (DEN leads 3-2)
Denver Nuggets (50-27, 23-15 Away) vs. Portland Trail Blazers (44-33, 21-17 Home)
Date: Thursday, June 3, 2021
Start Time: 8 p.m. EST
Venue: Moda Center — Portland, OR

After laying a total dud in Game 4 on the road, the Nuggets bounced back in a huge way on Tuesday to take a 3-2 series lead. It comes as no surprise that Nikola Jokic led the way with what was easily his best game of the NBA Playoffs to date. The NBA betting favorite to win MVP fell just shy of a triple-double, finishing with 38 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists. Unlike Game 4 and some of the earlier games in this series, he got plenty of help from multiple players. Michael Porter Jr. came in with a double-double line of his own, ending with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Monte Morris did significant damage as well, scoring 28 points. Even Aaron Gordon checked in with a double-double effort. Such a team-wide effort is something that Denver will certainly look to maintain going forward.

Damian Lillard remains one of the most underappreciated superstars in the NBA. Is that even a hot take at this point or just a known true fact? He went bananas in Game 5, finishing with 55 points, 10 assists and 6 rebounds. Unfortunately for he and the Trail Blazers, the performance could not keep them from losing the game. C.J. McCollum had a solid 18-point, 7-rebound, 7-assist effort while both Robert Covington and Jusuf Nurkic posted double-doubles. Even after that heartbreaking loss, the Trail Blazers have the respect of the NBA betting odds prior to Thursday’s Game 6. Portland will go off as a favorite on their home court in a series that deserves to go a full seven games.
