North Alabama vs Austin Peay Prediction
One of the main reasons North Alabama finds itself in a position to make the ASUN championship game is thanks to their balanced attack on offense. The Lions have four players that average more than nine points per game and they are a big reason why North Alabama lost by just one in overtime on the road at Kansas State earlier this year. In their previous two games this year against Austin Peay, they have gotten plenty of guys to contribute, but nobody has shown the ability to take over the game and lead them to victory.
Austin Peay may not run as deep of a lineup as North Alabama, but they have incredible scorers leading the charger. The Governors have five players averaging over 11 points per game and are led by guard DeMarcus Sharp who dropped 35 points in their quarterfinal victory over North Florida. The key to this game will be the play of guard Isaac Haney. In his previous two games against North Alabama, he’s averaged 28 points per game. The Governors have plenty of scorers, but the play of Haney has been the reason they haven’t lost to the Lions this season.
Overall, the Governors are a much better team. Offensively, they can be trusted more due to having more consistent and lethal scorers. In their first meeting that went to overtime, Austin Peay shot just 59% from the charity stripe. While they do only shoot 69% from the line on the season, it would appear the main way for North Alabama to win this game is to hope Austin Peay struggles to make the most of their opportunities.
