NHL Betting: Round Robin Day 1 Bets and Parlay | Avalanche vs Blues

Let’s be totally honest — an NHL hockey game has the chance to go either way more so than any other sport. NHL betting is already difficult to predict, and now this extended lay-off and round robin tournament creates a situation unlike any other.

Round Robin Tournament Begins

Anyone out there saying they are betting day one of the round robin games in total confidence would be foolish. These teams have not played a meaningful game in four months, and were only allowed one single exhibition game as a warm up. In addition to that, as wonderful as hockey in August is, it is also strange.

These are the best teams in the league, so you can guarantee each game will be competitive. How each team will look in game one, however, is totally up in the air.

With that in mind, let’s try and win some money anyway!

Avalanche vs Blues NHL Bet

The only individual game I will have money on is the Colorado Avalanche (-110) vs St. Louis Blues.

I think Colorado is going to win this game. They have a group of young, extremely talented players who excell at putting the puck in the net.

The Avalanche also lead the Blues in a couple important statistical categories:

Goals Per Game: Avalanche 4th (3.37) – Blues 14th (3.14)

Shots Per Game: Avalanche: 9th (32.3) – Blues 21st (30.7)

And they are neck and neck in one other stat:

Goals Against Per Game: Avalanche 26th (2.71) – Blues 27th (2.66)

The expected starting goaltenders are basically even as well:

Avalanche: Philipp Grubauer – GAA (2.63) Save% (.916)

Blues: Jordan Binnington – GAA (2.56) Save% (.912)

Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, and Mikko Rantanen all registered a point in their exhibition game against the Minnesota Wild, while the Blues were shut out by the lowest-seeded team in the entire play-in tournament, the Chicago Blackhawks.

I just trust the Avalanche more in a one game situation, if I am betting on this NHL game. I also think all of those guys will register points again on the way to a victory.

I’m taking the Avalanche -110

(I also wouldn’t call you crazy if you sprinkled a little on the -1.5 puck line +250)

Day 1 NHL Betting Parlay

I also have a parlay involving all four opening games. I would not recommend putting much stake into this NHL bet, but there is a chance for a very nice payout! And hey, why not throw a few dollars on it in celebration of our beloved NHL returning?

Flyers (+115) – Avalanche (-110) – Golden Knights (-125) – Capitals (+105)

Pays +1400

Good luck on your bets everybody!
