NFL Survivor Pool Picks for Week 15 – Kansas City Chiefs

If you are unaware of what NFL survivor picks are, the basic concept is you make NFL picks throughout the season, but you can only pick a team once. Once you lose, you’re knocked out, so choose your Week 15 NFL Survivor Pool picks wisely.

If you are new to reading my survivor articles, what I do is outline my “lock of the week,” my “value of the week” and my “high-risk, high-reward pick.”

The lock of the week details what team I think has the best chance of winning their matchup. This would most likely be a good team that plays a bad team. The lock is also the official pick for NFL Survivor Pools, meaning we will not reuse a “lock.” My value pick of the week details a mid-tier team that has a good matchup. And finally, my high-risk, high-reward pick details a bad team that has a good matchup.

Lock of the Week | Best Pick for NFL Survivor Pool Week 15

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Houston Texans

This right here is why we wait to take good teams until the end of the year. If you are still alive in your survivor pool, I would guess that you have taken the Chiefs by now. If not, please take them here. The Chiefs consistently have one of the best offenses in the league and when they play one of the worst defenses in a league – it seems like a good recipe for a win. While yes, Amari Rodgers caught a touchdown last week (!), the Texans could be without Dameon Pierce, Brandin Cooks and Nico Collins this week. With almost no star power whatsoever on offense, it really feels like the Chiefs should dominate this game.

Patrick Mahomes is probably the MVP front-runner right now. That alone is enough to win this game, but you would have to imagine that Travis Kelce gets very involved in this game, right? Last week, Kelce caught just four passes. That is not enough for a top-three tight end of all time. I think that Mahomes and Andy Reid both know that too. Also, the Chiefs are very, very close to clinching a division win. There is that little extra motivation. Don’t overthink this, the Chiefs are much better than the Texans and should easily win this game.

Value Pick of the Week | Week 15 NFL Survivor Pool Picks

Washington Commanders vs. New York Giants

The Giants are not the Giants that we knew from the beginning of the season anymore, in fact, they have only won one game since Week 7. On the other hand, the Washington Commanders are coming into the divisional matchup well-rested and off of a bye. Outside of that, Washington is 6-1-1 in its last eight games. These teams tied two weeks ago.

Since Week 5, Washington is giving up just 16.6 points per game. The defense has come into its own and that has started with the improved play of the defensive line. Washington has 34 combined sacks this year – good for 10th in the NFL, while the Giants have given up 44 sacks this year – good for third in the NFL. That is where it all starts for Washington. When the defense plays well, Taylor Heinicke settles in and plays well. While Daniel Jones continues to improve as a passer, making him uncomfortable will surely result in turnovers, as Jones has been known for.

On top of all of this, this game is huge for both of these teams for a playoff spot. Currently, both teams are in the playoff picture, but with teams like Seattle, Detroit and Green Bay lurking, there is ample room for error from either of these teams. That makes me love Washington because they have that week of rest coming into a huge Sunday Night Football matchup.

High-Risk, High-Reward Pick of the Week | Week 15 NFL Survivor Pool Picks

Seattle Seahawks vs. San Francisco 49ers

The Seattle Seahawks are fighting for their playoff lives right now. Injuries to the 49ers are working in favor of Seattle, as San Francisco will be without Deebo Samuel. While that may not seem like a huge deal, since he is not having as good as a year of last year, it should undoubtedly force Kyle Shanahan to somewhat change up the offense. Other injuries for San Francisco include Arik Armstead and Christian McCaffrey. Brock Purdy is also injured right and is listed as questionable.

Even though Purdy should play, losing Samuel is going to be an obstacle for the young QB. Samuel has a great ability to do something with the ball in his hands, whether it be on a run or a pass. Without Samuel’s ability to make plays, someone will have to fill that spot, which seems unlikely.

On Seattle’s side of the ball, D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett are continuing to do what the two and just produce. It sounds like Ken Walker could also play this week – so Seattle should be pretty close to complete on offense. Over its last three games, San Francisco is giving up 241.7 yards per game through the air, which ranks as 11th-worst in the NFL.
