If you are unaware of what NFL survivor picks are, the basic concept is you make NFL picks throughout the season, but you can only pick a team once. Once you lose, you’re knocked out, so choose your Week 14 NFL Survivor Pool picks wisely.

If you are new to reading my survivor articles, what I do is outline my “lock of the week,” my “value of the week” and my “high risk, high reward pick.” The lock of the week details what team I think has the best chance of winning their matchup. This would most likely be a good team that plays a bad team. The lock is also the official pick for NFL Survivor Pools, meaning we will not reuse a “lock.” My value pick of the week details a mid-tier team that has a good matchup. And finally my high risk, high reward pick details a bad team that has a good matchup.

Last week, I went 1-2 with my lock of the week losing to the Detroit Lions. Pretty ironic that right after I said that I was going to stop taking the Lions, they won. With that being said, we are getting limited on teams left to pick for the lock of the week.

Teams Used for “Lock of the Week”

  1. San Francisco 49ers
  2. Green Bay Packers
  3. Arizona Cardinals
  4. New Orleans Saints
  5. Las Vegas Raiders
  6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  7. Carolina Panthers
  8. Los Angeles Rams
  9. Indianapolis Colts
  10. Baltimore Ravens
  11. New England Patriots
  12. Washington Football Team
  13. Minnesota Vikings

Seattle Seahawks vs. Houston Texans

Believe it or not, the Seattle Seahawks looked good last week. Russell Wilson seemed to be playing a little more comfortable with his recovered hand injury. San Francisco struggled to run the ball last week against this Seahawks team. That trend can definitely continue, as the Texans don’t feature much of a run game at all. In fact, the Texans are 32nd in total offense this year. This bodes well for Seattle, as they will be without Jamal Adams moving forward. The Texans also give up the third-most sacks in the NFL. Whoever starts at quarterback, whether it be Tyrod Taylor or Davis Mills, will be under pressure all game. Also, look for DK Metcalf to have a great game, as he has been underutilized in this offense and there is no better team to get back into the swing of things against than the Houston Texans.

This is also a strategic pick, due to the fact that Seattle is without Jamal Adams moving forward. They still have the Bears and Lions on their schedule, but being down Jamal Adams will make those games seem closer than they should be.

Value Pick of the Week | Week 14 NFL Survivor Pool Picks

New Orleans Saints vs. New York Jets

This has to be a good Taysom Hill game. If it is not, I think the Hill quarterback experiment needs to end. The good thing about this for Hill is that they play the three-win New York Jets. Now, Alvin Kamara was a full participant at practice this week, which leads to less focus on Hill running the ball. This works in favor of the Saints, as they have basically three different running backs to throw at the Jets. The Saints also need a win in this game to climb back up in the NFC South. Look for the Saints to throw everything that they can at the Jets this week.

Zach Wilson has also been prone to making mistakes this season. Going up against one of the better defenses in the NFL will be a real test for the young QB. Look for the Saints to get after Wilson early, forcing him to throw a few bad passes and maybe a couple of turnovers.

High-Risk, High–Reward | Week 14 NFL Survivor Pool Picks

Carolina Panthers vs. Atlanta Falcons

The strength of this Panthers team is their defense against the pass. We all know that Matt Ryan wants to pass the ball. Cordarrelle Patterson has been having a career year for the Falcons, but is he enough to carry this Falcons team? Carolina also fired their offensive coordinator, leaving the reigns up to presumably Cam Newton. This feels like a game where Newton is going to run wild. It has some unpredictableness to it. With Newton’s ability to run, running lanes should open up for Chuba Hubbard and passing lanes should open up for DJ Moore. Carolina has also had success at rushing the quarterback recently. With Ryan’s inability to move well, the Panthers should have an easy time bringing him down. This game may turn out the same way that the Falcons’ game against the Patriots played out.

Look for the Panthers to make strides on catching the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in this NFC South matchup.
