If you are unaware of what NFL survivor picks are, the basic concept is you make NFL picks throughout the season, but you can only pick a team once. Once you lose, you’re knocked out, so choose your Week 10 NFL Survivor Pool picks wisely.
If you are new to reading my survivor articles, what I do is outline my “lock of the week,” my “value of the week” and my “high risk, high reward pick.” The lock of the week details what team I think has the best chance of winning their matchup. This would most likely be a good team that plays a bad team. The lock is also the official pick for NFL Survivor Pools, meaning we will not reuse a “lock.” My value pick of the week details a mid-tier team that has a good matchup. And finally my high risk, high reward pick details a bad team that has a good matchup.
My rough season continues. My lock of the week once again lost as the Baltimore Ravens went down to the Miami Dolphins on Thursday night football. For whatever reason, the Ravens were not running quick routes to the middle of the field when Miami was putting seven and eight guys on the line of scrimmage. With the Eagles’ win over the Broncos and the Steelers-Lions tie, I went 1-1-1 on the week. With that being said, we now have a little bit more of an idea of how teams will look in the future of this season.

New England Patriots vs. Atlanta Falcons
The New England Patriots are playing very good football right now. Without starting running back, Damien Harris, the Patriots beat the Browns, 45-7. Their defense and continued development of rookie quarterback Mac Jones has been the key to their success this year. Against the Falcons, I do not expect the Patriots to shy away from the game plan that was in place against Cleveland. Atlanta does not have a defense that scares you, so Jones should once again have time to sit in the pocket and go through all of his reads before making the right decision. On defense, the Patriots should focus on stopping Kyle Pitts. With Calvin Ridley stepping away from football, for the time being, the only reliable downfield weapon that the Patriots have is Pitts.
With the multitude of playmakers on the Patriots’ offense, Josh McDaniels should be able to rotate guys in and out so that the Falcons don’t get a comfortable read. New England should somewhat be able to get after Matt Ryan with pressure. Look for the Patriots to give the Falcons a bunch of different looks on defense and try to run the ball early and often on offense.

Cleveland Browns vs. Detroit Lions
Has anyone ever seen a more “get-right game” than this one? The Cleveland Browns are coming off of a week, where they got destroyed by the New England Patriots. With all of the Odell Beckham Jr. drama lingering, this is the game that the Browns can start to get the monkey off of their back. The Lions are a flat-out bad football team. Their only playmaker comes on the offensive side of the ball in D’Andre Swift. This bodes well for a run-heavy Browns team, who should get Nick Chubb back this week. Even though Baker Mayfield has an injury, the Browns shouldn’t need him in this game.
Like I said before, the Lions do not possess very much to scare you on offense. Jared Goff could also miss this game, making a bad offense worse. Due to this, I expect that the Browns will do everything that they can to get Myles Garrett into one on one situations.
Look for the Browns to rush the Lions heavy on Sunday.
NFL Value Pick: Cleveland Browns

New York Jets vs. Miami Dolphins
While I don’t think that either of these teams are very good at football, I do believe that the Jets are better than the Dolphins. With uncertainty surrounding the Jets’ quarterback position, this needs to be a Michael Carter game. The rookie running back has looked decent at times, when given opportunities. He has four touchdowns in the last six games, with the games that he didn’t score in coming in blowout losses to the Colts and Patriots. The Dolphins are middle of the pack when it comes to rushing defense. With this in mind, it makes total sense to run the rookie as much as possible.
The Dolphins also give up the most yards through the air this year. This is fortunate for a team that has had a handful of different quarterbacks play this year.
The Jets should run very early in this game, hopefully establishing a run game. If that happens, passing should not come at a premium for the Jets.
