Michael B. Thomas/Getty ImagesIt is coming down to just a few mere moments before training camp begins. The earliest rookie training camp session begins this Wednesday, July 19th. But as teams are still assembling their rosters, it is time to see where some remaining free agents could fit in for their free agency. So, let’s take a quick look at some of the free agents still available and try to project where they could land.

Anquan Boldin

Boldin has been great in the league for many years, including putting up 67 catches for 584 yards and 8 touchdowns just last year for the Detroit Lions. He even had recently said that he wanted to sign with a team right before training camp. Where this tough receiver could sign is still a mystery, but with Markus Wheaton out of town and Martavis Bryant’s relationship with Big Ben still up in the air, this author could see him opposite side of the field from Antonio Brown on the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Darrelle Revis

If you would’ve projected no teams wanted to invest on property on Revis Island two years ago, I would have been very skeptical. But here we are in mid-July and he is not signed by anyone. Thinking of a defense that could use some help in the secondary, my mind quickly goes to the Indianapolis Colts. Yes, they still have Vontae Davis to be their primary cornerback, but next on their depth chart is their second round pick from this season in Quincy Wilson from the Florida Gators. If they are wanting to compete for the division with the Houston Texans, they should give Revis a call.

Rashad Jennings

He may have won Dancing with the Stars, but he hasn’t generated a ton of buzz in NFL Free Agency after getting cut by the Giants back in February. One place that would be a great spot for him to join a committee would be the Detroit Lions. He would be a backup to Ameer Abdullah, but Ameer has had some injury concerns since he has been in the NFL. Also, they no longer have Joique Bell, so Jennings would be a good veteran fit to make sure that they can have a balanced offense instead of putting their NFC North chances all on Matthew Stafford’s arm.

Gary Barnidge

We all know him from either saving or destroying you in fantasy football in 2015, when he had more touchdowns that year than the rest of his career combined. He just didn’t fit the youth movement for the Cleveland Browns, who drafted a tight end in the first round and then released Barnidge. Everyone knows that a tight end can be a great security blanket, and yours truly would put him on the Denver Broncos, where he would primarily be a red zone threat and an upgrade quickly over Virgil Green and Jeff Heuerman since rookie Jake Butt is still recovering from a knee injury. Whether Trevor Siemian or Paxton Lynch is going to toss the pigskin, Barnidge would be a great addition to the Mike McCoy offense that is not afraid to utilize the tight end.

Robert Griffin III

Another Browns castaway this off-season, Griffin is still looking for work after yet another injury-plagued year. Griffin would be a good add for the Houston Texans, just to get a veteran quarterback presence in the locker room, as the quarterback who has started the most NFL Games in that locker room is Brandon Weeden. Griffin may not have the most NFL experience since he only entered the league in 2012, but he still should be able to come in and give some different looks for the defense in practice as well for when they face the Tennessee Titans twice this year.

Colin Kaepernick

Now this quarterback has definitely made more headlines off the field instead of on the field in the past 12 months, but he did end up with 16 passing touchdowns to just four interceptions last year. He’s talked to a few different teams about being a backup, and this author would put him on the roster of the Buffalo Bills. I’m not 100% sold on Tyrod Taylor yet, and neither are they as they gave him a contract they could end before extending him out further. While Kaepernick carries some extra baggage with the media distractions, he surely is a better backup than T.J. Yates and Cardale Jones.
