We’re onto Week 6 of the NFL season, starting with Thursday Night Football — an AFC West clash between the Denver Broncos and the Kansas City Chiefs. Below, I’ll go over my top DraftKings NFL DFS Showdown picks for the Broncos vs Chiefs TNF Week 6 game.
Although this game could turn into a blowout in favor of the Chiefs quickly, it’s still quite intriguing from a DFS perspective. Last season, Russell Wilson performed well against Kansas City and kept the games competitive till the end. Can he continue that trend or is this going to be an ugly game from the start?
It’s going to be a fun one regardless because well, it’s football, so let’s dive into how you should tackle this week’s DraftKings NFL DFS Showdown fantasy football slate. I’ll highlight my favorite Captain’s plays and FLEX plays below.

NFL DFS Showdown DraftKings Picks for Broncos vs Chiefs TNF Week 6
Favorite Captain NFL DFS Picks
Isiah Pacheco ($14,100)
At this point, I’m sure we’re all aware of how truly terrible the Broncos defense is this season and it starts with their abysmal run defense that allows a league-high 187.6 rushing yards per game –– a whopping 33.6 more yards than the next closest team. It feels like they’re getting worse as the season progresses too, allowing 251.7 rushing yards per game across the last three games.
As a result, I’m locking in Isiah Pacheco and reaping the rewards. Travis Kelce ($11,000; ankle) will likely suit up despite the questionable tag but he won’t be playing at full health and it’s very possible the Chiefs lean on Pacheco and the running game to do all the work. It’s understandable to have concerns about both Jerick McKinnon ($5,200) and Clyde Edwards-Helaire ($1,000) eating into Pacheco’s touches, especially if this turns into a blowout, but he’s totaled at least 15 carries across the last three games and is very clearly the pure rushing back of the group.
Russell Wilson ($14,400)
As much as I’d like to pick Patrick Mahomes ($19,200) here, his price tag is too expensive and frankly, his fantasy totals haven’t been viable enough to this point. So, let’s roll with Russell Wilson, who despite the team around him looking lost, has been quietly efficient at the quarterback position. He’s completed 67% of his passes for 1,210 yards and 11 touchdowns with a passer rating of 106.1 –– the fourth-best in the league. I’m fully expecting the Chiefs to do whatever they want on offense and it will all fall onto Wilson’s shoulders to air it out like usual and put points on the board.
As I mentioned above, Wilson kept both games in 2022 competitive till the end and that was when this Chiefs team looked much more put together. Something’s a bit off with Kansas City this season but they’ll still move the ball effectively and force Wilson to throw the ball and keep up. Kansas City has been solid defensively, ranking 11th in defensive DVOA (-6.4%) thus far but there’s no denying that Denver has plenty of playmakers scattered throughout its offense.

Favorite Value FLEX NFL DFS Picks
Courtland Sutton ($7,800)
Courtland Sutton provided consistent fantasy value through the first four weeks –– hauling in three touchdowns and eclipsing double-digit fantasy points in all four games. He put up a dud last week against the stingy Jets defense, which may steer most away from him in terms of ownership. Sutton leads the team in both receptions (21) and targets (31) and should be able to produce another viable stat line in a game where Denver will be airing it out often.
Stacking any of the top Broncos’ pass-catchers like Jerry Jeudy ($9,000) and Marvin Mims Jr. ($4,600) with Wilson is likely a smart strategy simply because of the blowout risk. The Chiefs have allowed the 12th-most receptions to opposing wide receivers so far this season.
Rashee Rice ($6,800)
Operating under the assumption that Kelce isn’t 100% healthy, Rashee Rice is a great under $7K NFL DFS pick that could very well break out against this Broncos defense. Mahomes still has not established a go-to second option in the passing game outside of Kelce but it’s beginning to look like Rice could be that guy. He’s been targeted at least five times and found the endzone once over the last three games, and despite not being able to eclipse 60 receiving yards once, continues to be open in the redzone when it matters.
Much like Denver’s run defense, its pass defense has been lackluster –– allowing six touchdown receptions to opposing wide receivers and the fourth-most passing yards per game (263.0) thus far. His role has slowly grown as the weeks go by and what’s a better time to have a breakout game than against this historically bad Broncos defense? And let’s be honest, none of these other Chiefs’ pass-catchers have done enough to propel themselves ahead of one another, so Rice is likely the safest option at just $6.8K.
