Top-25 Breakdown

  • Trae Young and Oklahoma are taking the College Hoop Nation by storm, as they continue to rise up the poll. Kentucky, who fell to UCLA, drops a bit, and no new teams join the poll this week as no one fell out. This week was pretty boring overall, but a few minor things happened, and they are below.
  • #13 UNC answers a very bad upset loss to Wofford by taking out the very hot Buckeyes of Ohio State.
  • #20 Gonzaga is handed a decently bad loss to San Diego State to raise questions about the Zags
  • #15 Miami has an insane second half to blow out Hawaii, who they trailed at half, but they were upset in their second game in the Diamond Head Classic by New Mexico State. The Hurricanes should have easily won the tournament in paradise.

Other Headlines

  • St. Johns continues to roll, and to me, they look like a tournament team after their victory over St. Joes.
  • Houston runs all over the struggling Providence Friars, whose tournament chances are getting slimmer by the minute.
  • UMass has a bad week, falling to Georgia State just when we thought they were becoming good again.
  • Temple drops a game where they played awful for 40 minutes against Georgia.
  • St. Bonventure is back to full firing power with their star Jaylen Adams back. This team took out Syracuse and they looked fantastic doing it, so watch out for this team in the future.
  • Penn State kills their momentum with a bad upset loss to Rider, and their conference foe Rutgers, who has been much improved, fell to Stony Brook.
  • Texas finally grabs a great win that was much needed, beating Alabama by 16. Bama cannot find a rhythm or play as a team.
  • Georgia Tech has been terrible so far, and it continued with an upset from Wright State.
  • Auburn continues impressing as they blew out UConn by 25.
  • USC knocks off potentially the top mid major team in Middle Tennessee to get back on track after a bad slide.
  • Illinois grabs a great win over Missouri, who really needed the win for their resume.
  • Duquesne seemed like they were going to turn their basketball program around, but they fell to Southern Illinois.
