We have a packed NBA All-Star Weekend schedule ahead. Events begin in Cleveland, Ohio on Friday, but the highlight of the weekends is always Saturday night. The first event of the night will be the 2022 Taco Bell NBA Skills Challenge. This year, they are doing things a little differently.

Below, we will discuss the NBA Skills Challenge format for this season, as well as who the participants are and what the betting odds are on BetUS Sportsbook.

NBA Skills Challenge 2022 Format and Info

State Farm All-Star Saturday Night

When: 8 PM EST
Coverage: TNT
Taco Bell Skills Challenge (First Event)
MTN DEW 3-Point Contest (Second Event)
AT&T Slam Dunk Contest (Third Event)

There will be a change the to 2022 NBA Skills Challenge format. This year, there will be teams. Three teams of three will compete against each other in three challenges, testing skills of shooting, passing and dribbling.

The two teams that earn the most “Challenge Points” after all players have gone will move onto the final round. Points are earned by winning the round.

The rounds are as follows:

Round 1: Shooting

All three players from each team will individually get 30 seconds to shoot from five spots, with the more difficult shots being worth more points. The team with the most collective points will win the round and earn 100 Challenge Points.

Round 2: Passing

All players will participate in passing to moving targets that range in size and distance. Again, the more difficult passes are worth more points. The team with the most collective points will win the round and earn 100 Challenge Points.

Round 3: Relay

The third round will resemble the past NBA Skills Challenge format. All players will participate in a timed relay. It is a five-step relay: 1) outlet pass, 2) dribbling through pylons, 3) making a short shot, 4) making a corner three, 5) dribble to the opposite end and make a shot. The team with the fastest time will win the round and earn 200 Challenge Points.

Final Round: Half-Court Shot

The final round of the NBA Skills Challenge 2022 will feature the two teams competing to make a half-court shot.
