The Washington Wizards came away with the number one pick in the NBA Draft Lottery, meaning we have officially hit NBA Mock Draft season. With every team now knowing where they will pick in the upcoming draft, they now have to start figuring out needs and where that value lies in the draft.
With the 2026 NBA Draft class projected to be one of the better in recent memory, hype will continue to build. Is AJ Dybantsa the clear-cut number one pick? Where does Cam Boozer land after finishing his freshman season as the Player of the Year? How high does Yaxel Lendeborg go after leading Michigan to the championship? All of these questions are answered in the following mock draft.
With the NBA Draft Lottery over and the draft positions locked up, let’s take a look at my first NBA Mock Draft of the offseason.
NBA Mock Draft and Projected Order After 2026 NBA Draft Lottery
1. Washington Wizards – AJ Dybantsa – BYU (Freshman)
In a stacked 2026 NBA Mock Draft, the Washington Wizards go with the consensus number one option here. At just 18 years old, AJ Dybantsa already looked to be the part of an NBA All-Star. While Washington recently picked up Anthony Davis and Trae Young, it remains to be seen how long those two will be in town. Drafting Dybantsa gives the Wizards a scoring option who can hit shots from everywhere on the floor.
Having Davis and Young is nice, but moving forward, building your franchise around a generational prospect in Dybantsa is the way to go for the Wizards. Looking at next season, a lineup of Trae Young, Kyshawn George, AJ Dybantsa, Alex Sarr and Anthony Davis is at least a 40-win team.
2. Utah Jazz – Darryn Peterson – Kansas (Freshman)
While Darryn Peterson’s “injuries” at Kansas were a concern, those thoughts have gone by the wayside after Peterson ended his freshman campaign with a strong showing for the Jayhawks. It appears those issues have been resolved, and Peterson is ready to compete at the next level. Utah takes him with the second pick here, creating a really interesting big three to build around with him, Ace Bailey and Keyonte George.
Peterson was scoring at an NBA level while at Kansas, something that will be a great addition to Utah’s ninth-ranked offense last season. He will slide into a starting guard spot sooner rather than later, creating a dynamic backcourt with George.
3. Memphis Grizzlies – Caleb Wilson – North Carolina (Freshman)
While once viewed as the worst of the big four in 2026 NBA Mock Draft projections, Caleb Wilson’s stock has been rising since the end of the NCAA Tournament. While still extremely raw on the offensive side of the ball, Wilson’s defensive skills will instantly translate to the NBA. His long arms and quick feet will provide an easy switch onto any position on the opposing team.
Wilson also showed off some offensive skills at Carolina, being able to make mid-range jumpers, as well as get to the rim off the dribble. More than that, there was no better lob threat in college basketball this season. Wilson probably has the most athleticism among the top names in the draft. Partnering that with his defense will give the Grizzlies an instant replacement after shipping away Jaren Jackson Jr this past season.
4. Chicago Bulls – Cameron Boozer – Duke (Freshman)
It is really unclear what the Chicago Bulls are doing as an organization, as (due in part to bad lottery luck) there does not really seem to be a direction. Matas Buzelis appears to be the only really valuable piece to build around, so seeing them come away with the number four pick should excite Bulls fans, unless they miss again at this pick (Patrick Williams).
They elect to take Cameron Boozer in this NBA Mock Draft, as he is the best player on the board. Boozer plays very physically and excels at taking his defender off the dribble and getting to the paint, where he has a very soft finish. More than that, Boozer was able to step out and hit threes at a 40% mark for Duke. His ceiling looks somewhat limited compared to that of the rest of the lottery-projected players, but getting an instant plug-and-play player, who will be good for the foreseeable future, works well for Chicago.
5. Los Angeles Clippers (via Indiana) – Keaton Wagler – Illinois (Freshman)
No player did more for their draft stock in college basketball this season than Keaton Wagler.
Wagler was the main driving force behind Illinois’ run to the Final Four, hitting big shot after big shot. With his 6-6, 185-lb frame, Wagler already has an NBA-sized build to play an off-guard position. Outside of Kawhi Leonard last sesaon, the Clippers oftentimes found themselves looking for consistent scoring. Bringing Wagler in gives the Clippers a second scoring option, and while Kris Dunn had a great season, moving towards a youthful backcourt is the way to go. Leonard probably does not have much longer in the NBA, so finding the franchise replacement here is the way to go.
6. Brooklyn Nets – Darius Acuff Jr. – Arkansas (Freshman)
It is really saying something when you are crowned the best guard to ever play for John Calipari. Darius Acuff Jr. is the best pure-scoring threat in this draft, something that Brooklyn is desperate for after finishing last in points scored per game last season. Acuff can score at every level on the floor, while bringing an attitude that is very easy for his teammates to rally around.
While the Nets have a ton of young pieces, they do not have a franchise player. Bringing Acuff in gives the Nets their future and some excitement for fans who have seen a lot of bad basketball lately. Acuff is the most electric player in the draft and has all of the makings to be a superstar in the NBA, even if his defense isn’t there.
7. Sacramento Kings – Kingston Flemings – Houston (Freshman)
At this point in the franchise’s history, it seems like Sacramento is purgatory in the NBA. Players get drafted and traded there and are never heard of again. Part of that is because they haven’t brought in any franchise-changing talent since drafting De’Aaron Fox (the Tyrese Haliburton trade is haunting). Now, they can take another shot at it by selecting Houston’s Kingston Flemings, who will immediately bring two key traits: speed with the ball and suffocating perimeter defense.
He was the perfect guard for Kelvin Sampson at Houston, and while his jump shot still needs work, that can be developed. What can’t be developed is Flemings’ ability to move the ball up the court in the blink of an eye. Flemings is an immediate starter who will bring energy, which is much needed for a tortured fanbase.
8. Atlanta Hawks (via New Orleans) – Mikel Brown Jr. – Louisville (Freshman)
Atlanta made some noise this past season, trading away their franchise player, Trae Young, and putting a mini-rebuild into place while still making the playoffs. Now, thanks to their trade with New Orleans during the draft last season, they have ammo to add a new franchise point guard to their team. That is where Louisville’s Mikel Brown comes into play. Brown is a dynamic, shot-creating guard capable of taking over games and hitting shots all over the court. At 6-5, Brown has great size and should be a great player to replace CJ McCollum, as his contract has expired.
9. Dallas Mavericks – Brayden Burries – Arizona (Freshman)
The Dallas Mavericks have once again found themselves in the top 10 of the NBA Draft. That works out great for a team that needs to add another young go-to option. Brayden Burries, who some have projected as high as five, would fit in great with a Mavericks team that does not need immediate scoring from their rookie.
Burries has a great combination of role-player tendencies, as well as great defensive instincts, and was a major reason why Arizona made a run to the Final Four in college. He will start off the bench, but in the future, will slot into a two-guard position, where he will excel at spacing the floor for Cooper Flagg and Kyrie Irving, while being able to switch at a high level on defense.
10. Milwaukee Bucks – Yaxel Lendeborg – Michigan (Senior)
If we did not take age into account when making our NBA Mock Draft, Yaxel Lendeborg is probably a top-five pick based on talent. Lendeborg was the driving force behind Michigan’s championship run and will come into the NBA with experience and a league-ready body. Lendeborg brings great defense and the ability and strength to get to the rim when he is called upon. The Bucks have a bigger need at the off-guard position, but believe it or not, with Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Bucks are still in a win-now window.
Lendeborg’s experience, as well as strong defense, give the Bucks an instant-impact player who can line up at the three or the four, if Giannis gets moved to the five in lineups. The Bucks are looking for some sort of help for Antetokounmpo, so bringing in the most NBA-ready player might be the way to go.
