The NASCAR Cup Series drivers take on the “Track Too Tough to Tame” this weekend as the NASCAR Playoffs begin. Darlington Raceway is home to the final crown jewel of the season in the Cook Out Southern 500. The drivers will have to keep the cars off the wall and manage their tires in order to produce NASCAR DFS points. With that, let’s get into this week’s advice for your FanDuel NASCAR DFS lineups.
FanDuel NASCAR DFS Overview
In this NASCAR Cup Series DFS column, we will be using FanDuel prices and scoring. Their scoring includes the following:
- .1 points for leading a lap
- .1 points for completing a lap
- Add/subtract 0.5 points based on the difference in a driver’s finishing position relative to their starting position
- Points based on where the driver finishes

Cook Out Southern 500 Drivers to Consider
Kevin Harvick ($11,500)
Kevin Harvick has severely underperformed this season compared to last year. Now, he needs to get score some points in the worst way this week as he starts the playoffs seeded 16th. Why not do it here at the place where he won twice last year? Harvick makes for a great pick for NASCAR DFS lineups this week.
Tyler Reddick ($9,000)
Tyler Reddick is also a guy looking to score some big-time points this week. Reddick is only one point up on Harvick in the standings after surviving to get into the NASCAR Playoffs last week. He finished just outside the top-10 in the spring Darlington race. With the Cook Out Southern 500 being 100 miles longer than the spring event, that could make all the difference. The No. 8 team has been looking a lot better recently than back in the spring. Don’t count out Reddick this week.
Erik Jones ($5,800)
The Cook Out Southern 500 value play is a guy who signed a contract extension last week, Erik Jones. The driver of the famous No. 43 car won at Darlington Raceway just two seasons ago, albeit while driving for a different race team. Jones still is a good racer at Darlington, and he could very well be a driver who surprises some people this week. Jones could be a key cog in some winning FanDuel NASCAR DFS lineups.
Kyle Larson ($14,000)
Kyle Larson is my pick to win this week as he came just a few laps short of winning the spring event at Darlington Raceway earlier this season. Larson went on to put together one of the hottest summer stretches we have seen in a long time. After capturing the regular-season points championship, he should continue his dominant run into the NASCAR Playoffs. Larson is one that NASCAR DFS players want in their lineups.
Cook Out Southern 500 Drivers to Avoid
Ryan Blaney ($9,800)
The driver who has won the last two races is on the bad side of this list? Yes, and here is why. Ryan Blaney is bad at Darlington. His average finish here is just 19th in nine total races. That’s not exactly what you want out of a guy who will more than likely lose spots in comparison to his starting position. Skip the No. 12 car in your FanDuel NASCAR DFS lineups this week.
Christopher Bell ($9,200)
Christopher Bell is in the same boat as Kevin Harvick and Tyler Reddick as far as points but with one key difference. Bell has an average finish of 20.8 in his 4 starts at Darlington Raceway, ranking him in the bottom half among active NASCAR Cup Series drivers. Since he is one of the drivers in the playoffs, Bell will have a starting spot of 13th. Based on his history, he could very well lose spots. Do not start Bell this week.
Matt DiBenedetto ($7,800)
Matt DiBenedetto is still looking for a ride for next season and Darlington Raceway won’t help his chances. DiBenedetto has an average finish of just 20.8 in his nine races at the track. With him having the 30th starting spot this week, the opportunity to gain spots is there, but not many other points are likely to be had. DiBenedetto should be avoided this week.
Bubba Wallace ($7,000)
Name a more iconic duo for FlurrySports NASCAR DFS coverage than Bubba Wallace and the “Drivers to Avoid” list. An average finish of 24.3 in his 6 starts at Darlington should be more than enough reason for you to look elsewhere for your Cook Out Southern 500 lineups.
