For the second time, this season the NASCAR Cup Series will visit Atlanta Motor Speedway. The Quaker State 400 has moved from the Kentucky Speedway to the Hampton, Georgia track. Back in the spring, the 1.54-mile track was dominated by one driver until the end of the race. Will he be one to watch this week in FanDuel NASCAR DFS?

FanDuel NASCAR DFS Overview

In this NASCAR Cup Series DFS column, we will be using FanDuel prices and scoring. Their scoring includes the following:

  • .1 points for leading a lap
  • .1 points for completing a lap
  • Add/subtract 0.5 points based on the difference in a driver’s finishing position relative to their starting position
  • Points based on where the driver finishes

Quaker State 400 Drivers to Consider

Kyle Larson ($14,500)

How can you not put Kyle Larson in your NASCAR DFS lineup this week? One of the hottest drivers (still) in the Cup Series, he is the most expensive to own this week. Add in the fact that he dominated the race leading 269 laps only to get passed in the final 10 laps and finish second. If the race was only 400 miles like it is this weekend, Larson would have won. I am going out on a very short limb and taking Larson to win this week.

Kevin Harvick ($11,700)

Kevin Harvick seems surprisingly cheap for how well he does at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Three wins at the track combined with an average finish of 6.6 in the last 10 races at the track. In the first race at the track, he went down a lap early, only to get it back late in the race and finish with a top ten. There is no quit in this No. 4 team and that will help you in your NASCAR DFS team if you take him.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. ($6,000)

The Value play this week is Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Usually, I avoid the No. 47 team and his teammate in the 37, but after some good runs out of both teams the past couple of weeks, I am trusting Stenhouse this week at Atlanta. An average finish of 17.1 in his nine races at the track. During Atlanta 1 he started and finished 12th, a consistent day and a pretty good points day for the FanDuel players. Do it again and you won’t be disappointed.

Kurt Busch ($9,000)

A guy who is not far off from being just as hot as Kyle Larson is the driver in the Monster Camaro. Kurt Busch is a guy I had written off for a couple of months is on a great stretch over the last few races putting him in the playoffs for the time being. Kurt Busch was wrecked out of the first race but was in the top five when it happened. The No. 1 team would be a good play in NASCAR DFS this week.

Quaker State 400 Drivers to Avoid

Martin Truex Jr. ($12,500)

Martin Truex Jr. has soured so bad since his last win at Darlington two months ago. Since then Truex has not had a top ten on an oval. Truex’s abysmal stretch is enough for me to avoid him. In the first Atlanta Motor Speedway race, he finished ninth after the 500 miles. I don’t see a lot of points in him this week based on his last two months.

Ryan Newman ($5,800)

On the Burnt Rubber Racing Podcast this week, we talked about how Rousch-Fenway Racing had a good start to the year and now has fallen down the standings. Ryan Newman is a driver to avoid for that reason. He has not had a good run in a couple months. In the first Atlanta race he finished 13th so not a totally bad day. The way that RFR has been recently, that is enough reason to have you look elsewhere.

Chris Buescher ($7,300)

The same goes for the driver of the No. 17 in Chris Buescher. The RFR driver was looking good to make the playoffs, but that has fallen apart within the last month. Buescher has an average finish of 19.2 including his seventh-place finish from earlier this year. That was when the team had momentum, but that ship has sailed for now. Buescher is a driver to avoid in NASCAR DFS this week

Tyler Reddick ($7,200)

The driver that I have been high on a lot for these lists is on the opposite side of the list. Tyler Reddick just does not know how to race this track that well. An average finish of 21st in his two races here. The spring race he finished 26th. The momentum is with this team, but I don’t trust the No. 8 for this week. Avoid Reddick in your NASCAR DFS lineups for Sunday.
