The NASCAR Cup Series takes on the ‘Monster Mile’ this week. Dover International Speedway will host the Drydene 400 on Sunday.  The one-mile concrete oval is a track that many drivers struggle to figure out. Picking the right ones is tough to do this week, but the following NASCAR DFS column will have you winning money in no time.

FanDuel NASCAR DFS Overview

In this NASCAR Cup Series DFS column, I will be using FanDuel prices and scoring. Their scoring includes the following:

  • .1 points for leading a lap
  • .1 points for completing a lap
  • Add/subtract a point based on the difference in a driver’s finishing position relative to their starting position
  • Points based on where the driver finishes

Drydene 400 Drivers to Consider

Martin Truex Jr ($14,000)

Who is stopping this guy? Right now, the answer is no one. Martin Truex Jr. was on fire last week and this week we visit a track that is his forte. He has a 4.3 average finish in the last ten races at Dover and two wins. MTJ starts on the pole this week and he could be out front racking up a ton of NASCAR DFS points off of laps led. Look for the No. 19 car to go back-to-back this Sunday.

Kevin Harvick ($11,500)

Kevin Harvick has had a down year by his standards, but now we are getting to a track where he has run well both recently and throughout his career. Harvick has two wins and an average finish of 9.8 in the last 10 races at Dover International Speedway. Starting fifth might not get you the difference in positional points, but he can easily deliver a top-5 finish on Sunday.

Cole Custer ($6,500)

Cole Custer makes the good list for the first time in a while. Custer has run two NASCAR Cup Series races at this track and an average finish of 10.5. He is a solid NASCAR DFS value play this week as he is cheap and runs well at this track. Starting 30th, he should be able to make his way through the field on Sunday.

Kyle Larson ($13,500)

Kyle Larson missed the two races at Dover International Speedway last year but still has great numbers for his career. An average finish of 7.5 couples nicely with a win. It may be hard to put him in your NASCAR DFS lineup with two of the others on this list given the price points, but it will be well worth it.

Drydene 400 Drivers to Avoid

Denny Hamlin ($13,000)

One way or another, something always goes wrong for Denny Hamlin and the No. 11 team at Dover. the exception to that is last year, but we have seen Hamlin take a slight step back in recent weeks compared to his early-season form. It’s hard to get excited about him for NASCAR DFS at the ‘Monster Mile’.

Alex Bowman ($10,000)

This has very much been a roller coaster year for Alex Bowman thus far. Lately, it has been much more on the downside than up. Good old Miles has a way of getting the best of Bowman the Showman more often than not. He is on the outside looking in for NASCAR DFS this weekend.

Christopher Bell ($9,000)

It’s a small and uninspiring sample size for Christopher Bell at Dover International Speedway in the NASCAR Cup Series. Granted he was running for a worse team than his current Joe Gibbs Racing ride, but it’s still very hard to trust. Avoid Bell this Sunday in your FanDuel NASCAR contests.

Kurt Busch ($8,500)

Kurt Busch will continue to stay on the “avoid” list until he puts at least one good run down. KB1 ended up in a fireball last week, the latest in a slew of disappointing finishes. Chip Ganassi Racing is struggling big time right now. Avoid the No. 1 car in NASCAR DFS this week.
