Mystics vs Storm WNBA Betting Game Preview
Washington Mystics Preview
Tonight’s contest marks the second of a three-game road trip out west for the Mystics. Unfortunately, the start of the trip did not go as planned as Washington fell by two to Los Angeles on Tuesday. With that being said, the team did play that game minus one of their top contributors in former WNBA MVP Elena Delle Donne. The Mystics have now alternated wins and losses in each of their last six games.
Despite the end result not going in her team’s favor, Ariel Atkins continued her All-Star-caliber season on Tuesday night. She scored 22 points and leads the team in that department for the season. For the second time in the past week, the Mystics also got a nice scoring contribution from Myisha Hines-Allen who finished with 17 points. The WNBA’s leading assister, Natasha Cloud, was up to her usual tricks on Tuesday as well. She managed to tally a double-double for the game with 13 points and 13 dimes.
Seattle Storm Preview
Thursday’s WNBA betting contest marks the return home following a five-game road trip for the Storm. It was a successful trip at that as Seattle won four of the five games, including a victory over New York on Sunday. Overall, the Storm have won five of their last six coming into the day. After a 4-5 start to the campaign, Seattle is now four games over .500 and up to second in the Western Conference standings.
For once, Breanna Stewart actually was not the Storm’s leading scorer in Sunday’s victory. While she certainly made her presence felt with 18 points and nine rebounds, it was Gabby Williams who led the team with 23 points. Add in nine boards of her own and it was easily one of the best performances Williams has had this season. Against a stout defensive opponent like Washington, bettors must consider whether or not players like Williams will be able to step up offensively once again when contemplating today’s Mystics vs Storm prediction.

Mystics vs Storm Prediction
After missing Tuesday night’s contest, Elena Delle Donne is nowhere to be seen on the latest Mystics’ injury report today. Having the former league MVP in the lineup will be a major boost for Washington, especially considering the matchup that lies in front of them tonight. While rookie center Shakira Austin has been fantastic, matching up against the WNBA’s leading scorer in Breanna Stewart takes things to a whole different level.
Not only will the availability of Delle Donne help the Mystics defend inside, but it should also provide a sense of ease for the rest of the team in general. Perhaps one of the underlying benefits of her being in and out of the lineup lately has been the emergence of other players on offense for the Mystics. If Austin and Myisha Hines-Allen can continue to provide a scoring boost, Washington certainly has more offensive depth than the Storm.
Of course, thanks to having the league’s leading scorer in Stewart, Seattle is able to overcome that lack of reliable offensive depth more often than not. However, Jewell Lloyd has been the only other player consistently putting the ball in the basket for the Storm this season. Against a top-tier defensive opponent like the Mystics, a lack of scoring depth could be a major issue. Washington may not win the game outright, but they are definitely capable of keeping it close right down to the end.
