Michigan State vs Kansas State Prediction | Sweet 16 March Madness Expert Picks
With how hot Marquette was coming into the NCAA Tournament, many were surprised when Michigan State not only jumped out to a quick lead but finished the job and eliminated the Golden Eagles to get to the Sweet 16. Kansas State, on the other hand, rode a gutsy performance from guard Markquis Nowell to a come-from-behind win over the Kentucky Wildcats.
Kansas State gave up 19 offensive rebounds to Kentucky and was outrebounded 44-25. While Kentucky forward Oscar Tshiebwe is a hard guy to stop on the glass, there were many times Kansas State didn’t even look like they were trying to box out. While Michigan State shouldn’t pose as much of a problem on the glass, the Wildcats can’t count on Nowell to bail them out every game.
Simply put, Michigan State did not look good against Marquette. While they did enough to win, it was clear that Marquette lost the game more than the Spartans won the game. Michigan State’s offense has struggled all year and will need to shoot better than 13% from deep to beat out the Wildcats.
Michigan State will come into this game with plenty of momentum after a big win. Unfortunately, the Spartans don’t have a guy that can take over a game. Going up against a team like Kansas State and a player like Markquis Nowell, that won’t be good enough unless they can completely shut him down. With that task being hard enough and Kansas State having players that can carry the load anyways, expect Kansas State to at least cover the spread.
Our college basketball betting Michigan State vs Kansas State prediction today will be Kansas State covers the spread at BetUS.
For what it’s worth, the ESPN Matchup Predictor gives Kansas State a 50.6% chance to win.
