There may only be six games on Thursday evening’s NBA card, but none are lacking in intrigue. One of the most interesting matchups is deserving of the national TV spotlight that it occupies. The Dallas Mavericks will look to continue their recent winning ways against the top team in the Eastern Conference, the Philadelphia 76ers. The NBA betting odds have labeled the home team as the favorite for this matchup.

Mavericks vs 76ers NBA Betting Overview

Mavericks Outlook

The Mavericks were one of the major disappointments over the first month and a half of the NBA betting season. Recently, Dallas seems to be finding its stride. The Mavs have been victorious in six of their last seven games. Most recently, a Luka Doncic step-back 3-pointer in the final seconds proved to be the decisive blow in a win over the Boston Celtics. The All-Star point guard fell just two assists shy of a triple-double line in that game and continues to be the focal point of everything the Mavericks do offensively. Where the Mavericks have really struggled this season is on the defensive end. Dallas enters tonight’s game ranked just 23rd in scoring defense, allowing an average of 113.6 points per game. For injuries, both Kristaps Prozingis and Maxi Kleber are questionable for tonight’s game.

Mavericks Injury Report

  • Questionable: Kristaps Porzingis (back), Maxi Kleber (ankle)

76ers Outlook

For the 76ers, the big question surrounding the team is can they sustain their success over the course of a full NBA betting season? With tonight’s game being in the home confines of the Wells Fargo Center, it’s certainly hard to bet against them. The Sixers are 13-2 straight up at home compared to just 8-9 on the road. This type of home-road split is almost as drastic as the one we saw from Philadelphia last season.

With Joel Embiid playing at an MVP-caliber level, it’s no surprise that the 76ers continue to maintain their spot atop the Eastern Conference. Embiid’s season averages include 29.8 points, 11.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.3 steals and blocks per game. After avenging a loss to the Toronto Raptors in their most recent outing, the 76ers will look to pick up another win and stave off the hard-charging Brooklyn Nets in the standings for at least another day.

76ers Injury Report

  • Questionable: Seth Curry (ankle)
  • Mavericks 2020-21 Betting Trends: 13-17 ATS; 15-15 to the Over
  • 76ers 2020-21 Betting Trends: 16-15-1 ATS; 17-15 to the Over
  • The Mavericks are just 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games (2-0 in the last two).
  • The 76ers are just 2-5 ATS in their last seven games.
  • Seven of the Mavericks’ last nine games have gone over the total.

Mavericks vs 76ers Statistics

  • Dallas is averaging 112.4 points per game (PPG) this season (No. 17 in the NBA)
  • Dallas is surrendering 113.6 PPG on the season (No. 23 in the NBA)
  • Philadelphia is averaging 114.0 PPG this season (No. 11 in the NBA)
  • Philadelphia is surrendering 111.1 PPG (Tied for No. 10 in the NBA)

Mavericks vs 76ers Prop Bet

Tobias Harris Total Assists: Under 4 (-125 at Bovada Sportsbook)

Tobias Harris has been a major part of the 76ers’ success throughout the first half of the season. With that said, it seems like a tall ask for him to exceed tonight’s NBA player props threshold of four assists. On the season, Harris is averaging just 3.4 assists per game. While this has seen an uptick in recent games, one has to expect regression back to the mean at some point. After dishing five or more dimes in four straight contests and six of the last seven overall, I’m willing to bet on a number closer to the season average for Harris in the assists column tonight.
