Martin Emerson Draft Profile
Strengths
One of Martin Emerson’s biggest strengths is his size and length. He is patient but is always able to break at the moment of the receiver’s release. Emerson does a good job at slowing receivers off the line in press coverage. He is certainly an asset in special teams as a part of the kick and punt coverage teams.
Weaknesses
The biggest knock to Emerson’s game is his inability to secure interceptions. The reason comes from his inability to try to run into the passing lane along with his below-average tracking and ball skills. When it comes to tackling, Emerson often dives at the ankles too early and searches for arm tackles too much as well. His inability to take on blocks will also make it tough for him to be a reliable option at the next level.
