Marquette Preview | College Basketball Betting Picks
It hasn’t been all smooth sailing for the Marquette Golden Eagles this year, but they have gained some serious steam after some early struggles in Big East play. After losing three of five, Marquette has since won 11 of their last 12 with their one loss coming on the road to No. 3 UConn. The Golden Eagles have dealt with multiple injuries all year, and have star point guard Tyler Kolek coming into the game a little banged up after picking up an oblique injury in their recent win over Providence.
Kolek should be good to go for this game and with that, the Golden Eagles are as capable as any to go into Creighton’s house and steal a win. Kim Jones has been absolutely electric lately shooting over 50% from the field in each of his last five games, and in six of his last seven. In his last three games, he has scored 34 points twice and is a combined 30-45 from the field and 15-24 from behind the arc. There is no question that Kolek runs this offense, but with the way he’s shooting the rock, he’s easily the most dangerous player whenever he’s on the court.
Creighton Preview | College Basketball Betting Picks
Although Creighton basketball got out to a strong start in Big East play, they also suffered a similar fate to Marquette and suffered a bit of a slump at the start of February. The Bluejays lost back-to-back games to Butler and Providence with Butler beating them at home. Creighton did recover with three straight wins including a 19-point drubbing of UConn before getting stomped at St. John’s by 14 points.
It would appear that Creighton is playing to the level of their opposition, so expect some fireworks on Saturday. Creighton is led by the three-headed monster of Baylor Scheierman, Trey Alexander and Ryan Kalkbrenner who all average over 17 points per game this season. In the majority of their recent losses, it’s been due to their opponents’ shooting lights out as opposed to anybody finding a way to shut down their offense. Creighton should be ready to go and will definitely put up their fair share of points.
Marquette vs Creighton Prediction | College Basketball Betting Picks
As it currently stands, Marquette is two games back of UConn for the top spot in the Big East with Creighton 1.5 games back. If Creighton can protect its home court, they will be just a half-game behind Marquette with the Golden Eagles still having to face off against UConn one more time. For Marquette, a win keeps them alive in the hunt for a share of the Big East title, where a loss all but eliminates them.
Both teams should come into this game ready to play and outside of a seemingly fluky Crieghton performance against St. John’s, both teams have been on fire recently. While Creighton has lost its last three against Marquette, including a home loss that helped Marquette claim the Big East regular season title last year, the Bluejays had won seven of the eight prior matchups.
With both teams playing some of their best basketball, there should be plenty of points scored in this game. Marquette is averaging over 94 points per game over their last three games while Creighton is averaging over 78 points per game over the same period. With the over/under line set at just 151.5 total points, it seems pretty safe that the over will hit for this game.
Our college basketball betting Marquette vs Creighton prediction tonight will be OVER 151.5 at BetUS.
For what it’s worth, the ESPN Matchup Predictor gives Creighton a 69.2% chance to win.
