A busy Sunday in the WNBA wraps up with a primetime showdown between the Minnesota Lynx and Las Vegas Aces. To say that these two teams’ seasons have followed opposite trajectories would almost be an understatement. While everything has been going right for Las Vegas, Minnesota can’t seem to catch a break. Based on where the two sides sit in relation to one another in the latest standings, it comes as no surprise that the WNBA betting odds heavily favor the Aces. However, is the large point spread for Sunday’s game too large? That is what bettors must decide when making their Lynx vs Aces prediction.

The following game preview includes our official Lynx vs Aces prediction, the injury report for both teams, WNBA betting odds from BetOnline Sportsbook, key betting trends and much more!

Lynx vs Aces WNBA Betting Game Preview

Minnesota Lynx Preview

Losers of four straight and 12 of their first 15 games to begin the season, the Lynx will be trying desperately to get back in the win column on Sunday night. Minnesota actually led Seattle at the half in their most recent game on Tuesday. Unfortunately, they were outscored by nine after the break and fell by a mere two points at home. Most don’t anticipate Sunday’s Lynx ve Aces prediction resulting in a final margin anywhere near that close.

A season that started out poorly for the Lynx only got worse when they lost center, Sylvia Fowles, to a long-term knee injury. Although the 36-year-old is hopeful to return to the court before the conclusion of this, her final WNBA season, it certainly won’t be tonight. This leaves Kayla McBride as the only consistent offensive threat for Minnesota in a game in which they will need to score plenty to keep up with Las Vegas. It is worth noting that Aerial Powers and Nikolina Milic both played quite well in Tuesday’s narrow home loss.

Las Vegas Aces Preview

The 2022 WNBA betting season has gotten off to a terrific start for the Aces. Las Vegas enters Sunday night’s home game on a three-game winning streak. Most recently, the Aces picked up consecutive road wins over Los Angeles and Dallas in impressive fashion. The latter win saw Las Vegas clinch a spot in the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup title game for the second year in a row. Of course, when a team is led by a trio of former No. 1 overall picks that have blossomed into superstars, it will presumably be a tough one to beat.

This is precisely what the Aces have assembled in the three-headed monster of Kelsey Plum (20.1 points per game), Jackie Young (18.3) and A’ja Wilson (18.1). Throw in Dearica Hamby (13.6) and Chelsea Gray (12.9) and it’s no surprise that the Aces largely continue to steamroll their opponents with unmatched offensive outputs. Wilson is nearly averaging a double-double on the season as she has also produced 9.6 rebounds per game. Relative to the Lynx, only McBride is averaging more points per game coming into Sunday’s contest than each of the top five scorers for the Aces.

Lynx vs Aces Prediction

The current WNBA betting spread for this game of Aces -15 is one of the largest we have seen for any game in the league so far this season. Clearly, Las Vegas is the superior team, especially with the Lynx set to be without their best player in Sylvia Fowles. However, when it comes to betting a side, taking Minnesota to hang within 16 points is much more appealing.

Looking at the Lynx’s 12 losses so far this season, only three of them featured a final margin of victory greater than 15 points. Even without Fowles, the team managed to compete to the end in each of their last two games. While those matchups both came at home, one of them came against a formidable opponent in Seattle.

The first time the Lynx and Aces got together this season, Las Vegas won. However, the final margin was only six points. Is Fowles worth a full 10 points towards the outcome of a game between these teams? Possibly. Yet the fact that Minnesota put forth such a spirited effort on Tuesday suggests that they will at least show up and try this evening even with the deck stacked against them. Although general confidence in the Lynx is very low at this stage, laying such a massive number with the Aces or any team is hardly ideal.
