In Game 1, the Phoenix Suns made the most of their home court advantage, grabbing a 99-90 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. Anthony Davis and LeBron James were limited, and that’s all the Suns needed for a win. The big question of the series is going to be if Chris Paul’s shoulder holds up. This NBA betting preview for the Lakers vs Suns NBA playoffs matchup will provide game info, betting trends, odds and a prediction for Game 2 of this series.

The Lakers have no one to blame but themselves for their loss in Game 1. Anthony Davis again failed to show up in the NBA Playoffs, shooting under 33% from the field and only putting up 13 points and seven rebounds. This team was built to be carried by LeBron and AD, and without both of them showing up, it becomes extremely difficult to win. While the role players weren’t exactly showstoppers, they never were meant to be. If the Lakers are going to win Game 2, they may need an other worldly performance by LeBron or AD.

When Chris Paul injured his shoulder, it seemed that it was the Lakers’ game to lose. Thanks to great performances by Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton, the Suns were able to hold on and take control of the series. While those performances will be hard to replicate, it would go a long way for Phoenix, if they could get better performances from Jae Crowder and Miles Bridges. They combined to go 7-22 from the field and 2-12 from deep. If they can pick up their shooting, this Suns team may be too deep for the Lakers.
