The defending champion Los Angeles Lakers received good news regarding the Anthony Davis injury on Monday.

After missing time with an Achilles injury, Davis made his return to the court. However, it appears he may have rushed his return, despite reports of the Lakers being extra careful with it.

    Anthony Davis Avoids Major Injury

Davis re-injured his Achilles, though he avoided major injury. He re-aggravated it, but avoided a tear. It is unlikely that the Lakers star will return before the All Star Game.

He will sit for at least 2-3 weeks, resting his Achilles. Davis has averaged 22.5 points per game (ppg) this season, which is his lowest since the 2013-14 season. The Los Angeles Lakers will lean on Kyle Kuzma, Markieff Morris and Montrezl Harrell to fill Davis’ role. LeBron James is more than capable of keeping the squad in contention for at least the first round of the playoffs.

Anthony Davis' MRI revealed a calf strain and a re-aggravation of the right Achilles tendonosis, source said. Once Davis returns to Los Angeles, he'll immediately get another evaluation there. It is extremely unlikely Davis returns to lineup prior to ASG break ending March 10.

With Davis out through at least the NBA All-Star break, LeBron James can insert himself into the MVP conversation. LeBron is averaging 25.5 ppg, with 8.0 assists and rebounds per game. He could see his numbers flirt with averaging a triple-double on the season.
