There’s naturally an inherent benefit to having starting pitchers on your fantasy baseball roster that will pitch multiple times in a given week. Among those pitchers who will do so in Week 7 is Texas Rangers ace, Kyle Gibson. Combine the two-start week ahead with his recent performances and it’s no wonder that there’s a whole lot of buzz around the Kyle Gibson fantasy stock.

Kyle Gibson Fantasy Outlook High After Phenomenal Start

Expectations weren’t very high for the Rangers coming into the 2021 MLB season, to say the least. The same can be said for starter Kyle Gibson, now in his second year with the club. Last year saw him make just 12 starts and finish with a 2-6 record and 5.35 ERA. That earned run average was his worst since his very first season in the bigs back in 2013. After only managing to record a single out in an Opening Day start against the Kansas City Royals in which he surrendered four hits and five runs, it’s no surprise that Gibson quickly became a fantasy baseball afterthought.

Well, let’s just say that the tides have now turned in a big way. In the six starts the Rangers ace has made since that Opening Day debacle, Gibson has allowed just six total runs over 41 innings of work. He has accumulated 34 strikeouts across those six outings and has brought his ERA down to 2.40 for the season. He is also yet to have a losing decision. Gibson carries a perfect 3-0 record into Week 7 of the season.

Kyle Gibson Fantasy Ownership On the Rise

There was a point in time several weeks ago when the world was down on Kyle Gibson’s fantasy baseball prospects in a big way. In fact, the 33-year-old right-hander was available in over 95% of ESPN leagues after his disastrous Opening Day start. That ownership percentage has since ballooned to 78.6%. It could conceivably rise further still given what’s on the horizon for the Rangers this week.

Two-Start Week Bodes Well for Kyle Gibson Fantasy Owners

Kyle Gibson will be making two starts in Week 7 of the fantasy baseball season. This makes him a valuable asset in both day-by-day transaction leagues as well as those formats that require lineups to be submitted on the first day of the week. The first of Gibson’s two starts this week comes against a San Francisco Giants squad that has surprised many by surging to the top of the NL West standings early in the season. The second comes against the Rangers’ AL West Division and in-state rival Houston Astros.

Can the torrid start to the season continue for Kyle Gibson fantasy owners? The Rangers starter has certainly provided a huge boost thus far. With two games on the horizon this coming week, he will certainly have ample opportunity to contribute once again. In a way, it’s surprising that his ownership percentage isn’t even higher given his early-season form.
