Both games taking place in New York were close ones. Game 1 came down to Trae Young hitting a game-winning shot with less than a second left. Last game, the scoreboard shows a nine-point Knicks victory, but it doesn’t tell the full story. The Knicks were a different team in the second half, out-scoring the Hawks by 22 points. The bench again kept New York competitive, with Derrick Rose scoring a team-high 26 points in 39 minutes. Julius Randle continued to be inefficient, shooting 5-16 and turning the ball over four times.

The Hawks simply didn’t score in the second half. Yes, the Knicks played better offensively, but Atlanta scored just 35 total points across those two quarters. Young score 30 points, again leading the team and looking good. He also assisted on seven buckets, showing he was involved heavily in the Hawks’ 92 points. John Collins was held scoreless on two shots. He also played just 15 minutes, due to foul trouble. The Hawks will look to regroup and play much better today, as they have shown they are tough to beat in Atlanta.

Spread: NYK: +5 (-110) | ATL: -5 (-110)

  • New York is 14-6 against the spread (ATS) in its last 20 games.
  • The total has hit the under in six of the Knicks’ last seven games.
  • Atlanta is 10-0 straight up in its last 10 home games.
  • The total has hit the under in each of the Hawks’ last five games.
  • The Knicks are 4-0-1 ATS in their last five road games against the Hawks.

Knicks vs Hawks Prediction

This NBA prediction uses NumberFire’s probability model. They give Atlanta a 61.1% chance to win Game 3 of this NBA Playoffs matchup.

The Hawks are the best team in the league ATS at home, with a 23-13 record. The Knicks are the second-best team on the road, with a 23-13 record ATS. This sort of balances out, making it irrelevant. What is relevant is the Hawks winning 10 straight games at home. They positioned themselves to win last game, but getting cold in the second half lost it for them. A crazy Atlanta crowd could have been the thing to re-energize the team and keep them afloat. For this reason, I believe their home-court advantage will prove to be valuable today, getting them an NBA Playoffs win straight up and ATS.
